Rained out this morning so I have a little time to read Agriville on the home computer again. Wish I'd skipped this link though. The NFU is busy trying to convince us of their "value" to the farmer again.

Why would any respectable farmer even look at
anything coming out from the NFU. There is a reason
they are labelled extremists. With guys like Wells,
Easter and Atamanenko preaching like a cult.... need I
say more.

easy to criticize some of the personalities in the nfu but it's difficult to fault most of their research. they point out some problems in the food production system that are going to really come to a head in the next few years. cattlemen have witnessed it firsthand already.

lol. so if the government would just give you some more money everything would be okay right? how many farms could survive without the welfare of subsidized crop insurance and other government programs? farming is on life support and it's easier to deny than to face the reality of how things have changed over the last thirty years.

TOM4CWB: How can you misinterpret information as you always seem to do?

Please READ the info that the NFU presents and try to understand the ramifications of what our sell-out government is trying to do. The farmer will even less control if this agreement is ratified than what he/she has NOW.

Why would we want to sacrifice our present rules,procedures and standards for those of the European Union and have a negligible increase in trade and at the same time allow the Europeans to dictate how our domestic trade is carried out. It is a SELL-OUT pure and simple. Stockwell Day is looking to earn brownie points for the Harper government but he has NO clue of what this agreement will do to our farmers and the farming industry. He is a rank amateur who will be sowing future dissent and IMHO chaos.

We export lots of grain from western Canada.
The Canadian government is trying to facilitate that through trade agreements.
The NFU is trying to stop this.

Are the people at the NFU trying to damage the Conservative government or the western grain farmer or both?
