Falling numbers

Just watched a video from Ward Weisenal of the cwb, talk about the marketing plan for our grain for the current crop year.

I guess he just figured out that the crop is shitty.

In both wheat and durum he talked about falling numbers because it helps sell grain when they have to market 3's and 4's instead of 1 and 2.

The cwb sells our grain based on falling numbers and have for years because that is the requirement of worldwide customers and that is how the customer mantains quality.

SO, why does the cwb not buy grain from the western farmer based on falling number?

That is, if they are working on behalf of farmers and getting that so called premium.

Very good reason the CWB is their to help our preferred customers in Canada and abroad and screw the Canadian farmer. Its that simple.
Take from the stupid and give to the smart.
Divide and Conquer. In 2002 our supposed feed wheat still milled a very good flower. But no it sold for 1.46 to grain companies who then took by trail loads down to USA and made bread in their mills.
In 2004 our frost damaged hrs also again but this time all the companies figured it out and farmers got screwed.
Will 2010 be any different. Western farmers get screwed the rest win. That should be what the CWB stands for.

I had sat last night and wrote a long post regarding that same thing and then deleted it because I was so disgusted with the whole thing, Selling on falling numbers is OK but they sure as hell haven't been pushing the CGC to get their shit together on the grades and buying on falling numbers. Here we sit with frosted wheat with decent falling numbers I know damn well will get milled as soon as it gets offshore and we can't capture any of that value from it under this 1930's system we have.
BY the way did you notice he only mentions 1,2and 3 wheats in his commentary, nothing about the likely 45 percent plus percent that is feed in the catchment area.
Why is that?

PS what kind of wheat turns into flowers when it is milled? Maybe that variety Hudye tried to sneak into the sytem?( flour)

In 2005 we had standing wheat that sprouted. Weight 62lbs, kernels looked fine, 13 protein, no frost or mildew but falling number was very low. That was the test used then to down grade to feed. It will be used if it hurts the farmer, NOT if it might help the grade.
