Sunday, December 12, 2010 – Winnipeg, MB – The results of the 2010 Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) election of directors was announced today by Ian Craven, election coordinator with Meyers Norris Penny LLP (MNP).
The successful candidates for districts 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 are as follows:
District 1: Henry Vos, Fairview, Alberta on the first ballot
District 3: Stewart Wells, Swift Current, Saskatchewan on the third ballot
District 5: Allen Oberg, Forestburg, Alberta on the first ballot
District 7: Kyle Korneychuk, Pelly, Saskatchewan on the first ballot
District 9: John Sandborn, Benito, Manitoba on the second ballot

The vote was conducted in five of the 10 CWB districts, using a mail-in preferential voting system that allowed producers to rank the candidates in order of preference. The overall ballot response rate for this election was 41.3 per cent. Ballot tabulation was conducted in the presence of scrutineers representing the candidates.
A total of 15 directors serve on the board that manage and direct the business and affairs of the CWB. Of the 15 board members, 10 are elected by producers. In this round, elections were held in the CWB’s five odd-numbered districts. The successful candidates officially take office on December 31, 2010 and will serve a four-year term.
