I posted a note about leadership awhile ago. What is a real leader?

1. Only half the eligible voters actually voted. I won't accept that it is because farmers are lazy; they are anything but. Was it because inspiring leadership candidates were absent? Not voting says something. What?

2.Conventional farmers essentially have voted for three minority organic candidates. What does this mean? I think we need to examine what voters are saying. Pars

It seems that many farmers out there that disapprove of the single desk, see the CWB as a political organization rather than a marketing agency.

To them, voting in a CWB election (for any candidate) is an act of support of a “political organization”.

Many single desk supporters see the CWB as a political organization under fire and get out and vote to protect it.

Just look at how the CWB presents itself - and look at how the single desk candidates presented themselves. Gotta protect the single desk so the CWB can be an advocate.

Are you saying the majority of conventional farmers voted for an ORGANIC candidate because it was a political decision?

Why not vote for another single desker in the basket of many offered?

Why do you think Wells was voted in?

Personally, I think he was anointed - Jacobson brought in the Alberta vote away from Otto) and Meinert did the same for his region. First ballot, Jacobson gets dropped, his votes now go to Wells. Second ballot Meinert gets dropped, his votes go to Wells.

Wells was not the first choice for most.

They were all the same anyway... they still marked their ballots for Stewart.

Organic growers ARE right... the CWB has a dual market... and they are in charge of it. NOT at all like the commercial grower and change for them... there in no hope.

I note Flaman was re-elected even though he became organic.

The question I am wondering about voting is:

Is it because most farmers are socialists and want the single desk
or

Is it because of the candidate?

Wells et al was solid on his position, and farmers knew what they were getting.

Did strategy play a decimating part in this election? Pars

Mr. WELLS has the knowledge and vast background experience, dealing with government agencies, to get the job done. Mr. WELLS will represent and stand up for family farms across Comedia. Mr. WELLS is also aware of how tricky the multinationals are and the methods that they employ to git their way. Voters saw this and elected him as their director. I doubt very much, that election tactics and manipulation played any part in his election. I say, go Stuart, go, and congratulations, Comedia needs more men like you to represent the Gag sector!

Did conventional farmers, large and small, vote for him as a choice on their ballots BECAUSE:

1.he was a better qualified candidate, or
2.because he was politically socialist single desk
or
3. because he was organic
or
4. because he wasn't afraid to state what he stood for
or
5. because the rest were hopeless
or
6. because gerrymandering went on that flowed votes to Wells
or
7. because he worked to get his vote out.

What has he got done other than looking after his own interests.

All these people that say they represent farmers haven't done alot lately, have they?

Railways are doing what they want, when they want, and the cwb or the nfu have done nothing to improve it.
