I think there are some possible reasons here maybe some don't want to accept.

1. even if all the anti boarders were elected they couldn't bring an open system of choice even if they wanted to so what is the point. That has to come from the government.

2. there are simply more farmers that want the cwb or are unsure enough to it then aren't.

3. The flood frost cost of production etc. issues are more what farmers are concerned about.

I voted once, on behalf of our farm, and not for the guy that won. And even if the guy I voted for had won, the CWB would continue to have the legal right to expropriate my property at the farm gate.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I shouldn’t complain because according the wisdom of tardman in the -Unofficial election results- thread, we can all grow more rye and feed barley if we don‘t like the situation and need an alternative to wheat.
