Congratulations New Directors

The best wishes to each one of you for being elected.

And for letting your name stand.

Service is many times, a thankless endeavor. Many believe they have a cure-all, only to find their prescription is past due, or wrong.

But above all, the men elected are farmers. They know what farming is, and how difficult and how enjoyable it is.

Make your job look easy. And don't forget who you are. And thank your families from all of us, for affording time to us, from them.

    Wishing you well, Parsley

If the job pays as well as you say, why didn't you go for the interview or I should I say let your name for election? Anyone here who has served on a board of boards (sometimes as a volunteer) knows the challenges externally (if you have made everyone mad, you are likely being successful) and internally (another job in a busy life). The reason people stand for a position like this is because a vision and the courage to present it to a sceptical world.

#1 a) apposing the board you don't get elected! b) the board isn't my biggest concern as it isn't all the other guys just trying to make through the shit weather with no meaningful programs, ever think that may be part of why so many don't have the time or desire to be so obsessed with this issue?

#2 what do they get paid?

#3 you have bitched, called out, ran down, as much or more than others on here, but today they get saluted? interesting? why don't you run or the other so passionate ones? Why doesn't your government in power make the election what it should be which is irrelevant and therefore these positions irrelevant?

Should I be a sore loser? I must say I DO wish them well. Last election, surprise!, I also wished the elected directors well. To do otherwise means more of your money being spent.

I don't think they have done a ood job. BUT, that doesn't mean to say the new ones won't, does it? Maybe Sanborn will be a whiz kid. Maybe Stuie will do more for farmers than all the rest combined.

And yes, I have bitched. On the principles of the Board though. If the Board was voluntary, you would not hear one word from me again!

Now, Ian White...there is an incentive....

I've also made a lot of suggestions

Rider,I'd be interested in hearing what you think the new Directors' priorities should be.

I vote in provincial and federal elections and if I Didn't Vote, I then Couldn't Bitch about the outcome. Only by being involved in the process grants you the right to bitch

I think there are some possible reasons here maybe some don't want to accept.

                            1. even if all the anti boarders were elected they couldn't bring an open system of choice even if they wanted to so what is the point. That has to come from the government.

                            2. there are simply more farmers that want the cwb or are unsure enough to it then aren't.

                            3. The flood frost cost of production etc. issues are more what farmers are concerned about.

I voted once, on behalf of our farm, and not for the guy that won. And even if the guy I voted for had won, the CWB would continue to have the legal right to expropriate my property at the farm gate.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I shouldn’t complain because according the wisdom of tardman in the -Unofficial election results- thread, we can all grow more rye and feed barley if we don‘t like the situation and need an alternative to wheat. Hmm, that couldn’t possibly have any effect on the supply and consequently the price of those commodities. /sarcasm

Did any of those property rights tromping single desk supporters ever think that “the voting with drills” that’s already happening in western Canada is making those commodities worth less than they would otherwise be already??…but we’re just supposed to grow even more and stop complaining now that the votes from the nursing home have been counted.

I dream of the day when the CWB has to earn my business.
