A quote from this week's emalt that somehow seemed relevant to this discussion. Perhaps the first activity (not an expensive one) would be to get the supply chain talk about what needs to happen in the cereal grain sector.

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal."

"The Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission, established in May 1996, represents Saskatchewan's 15,000 plus flax producers. A check-off system (mandatory but refundable) enables the Commission to support research, communication and market facilitation activities to promote and enhance production and value-added processing of flax in the province"

Why should this NOT be voluntary?

What sort of people take the money and then tell you to apply for it back, and then make it as difficult to do so

"The Council's mandate is to develop and support markets that will lead to increased Canadian flax production and exports of flax and flax products."

How about a mandate works in the interest of producers?

Here's your National B of D for Flax.

          Yes.

          What do they get paid?

How accountable were they when Triffid bit you in the derriere?

Did any pone of them get fired?

How much more money have they gotten for farmers per bushel? Or are they mereley expecting you to grow more bushels to bank profits?

          Look at these government bloats:

          Justin Sugawara
          Observer
          Federal Government

          Fire him

          Venkata Vakulabharanam
          Provincial Governments (3)

          Fire him.

Why in the world do you think Government bloats represent a free enterprise system. Which farmer put them into their position?

Just a few observations before I go rock.

Nothing wrong with the mandate if actually achieved. A strong market for flax means opportunity for farmers too.

Parsley, how does this apply to a cereal council?
