Pars, speaking from experience, corporate Xmas
parties aren't just a piss up. It is the one time of
year when senior management and the serfs blend
together in a social manner, unhinged from status-
quo hierarchy, where those senior managers assess
and evaluate individuals they usually never contact
with on an individual basis. That is why most
employees hate Xmas parties - they know they are
under the microscope (in a well run organization).
Your nastiness here is out of touch with reality and
plain old good will at a special time of the year.
Drop your sword for just a brief moment, you're
slipping down the respectability scale with your
vitriolic hatred.

I wonder what the total retirement packages, christmas pary packages etc. would be if you added up CWB, Crap insurance, and Agrivation? Not one worth the paper they are written on.

But really don't blame the people working there, the jobs are available some get them legitimately, some get appointed either way why wouldn't you work there. Just think all the farmers gonna go broke or have gone broke working their asses off ending up with nothing, and all those employees there working with no consequence to performance lack there of or effectiveness of themselves or the institutions they work at!

I have seen the per diems and the meals and the trips. Over and over. All crap.

Buying a dandy Christmas party meal and entertainment and prizes etc out of pooling account money says several things:

1. The CWB management/staff is rewarded for a job poorly done. Remember they consider themselves a team.So they should cut back as a team.

2. The pooling accounts are not returning enough $$$ to farmers. How to change the trend? Start in every department and quash unecessary spending. Some of you talk and act like Arnold Swartzenagggggger ...but, you too,soon enough, won't have a Christmas cup to snort in. Just keep it up.

3. Christmas is about giving. This is a free lesson in economicsa. it's worth something if you take the time to read it.

4. It shows that the CWB itself practices no restraint.

5. Staff and management see each other every day. If you think they really want to smile at each other every evening, you are out of touch. Mainly, it's another chore.

6. Overall, if the staff want to get together, go sing Christmas Carols in the Care Homes and Hospitals. Giving instead of taking lessons.

7. I don't care what Viterra does. They have their shareholders to answer to. Public institutions are entirely different. Capista?

8. Charity SHOULD and MUST begin at home. Farmers have to come first at the Board. Sending payments on a weekend! (And not a word from you Board wasps! Sour puke!)And I'm just not negotiable on that one.

9. If you want to give until you beg, don't give away my portion of money.

Should be able to calculate the crap spending including grey cup parties, first class tickets, meal allowances, per diems, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

I don't know about Sasktel, SGI, etc. But at the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority (SWA) our social club pays for all functions including Xmas parties. I put in a few dollars and the SWA matches it. No big free parties here.

I worked for the Sask government for many years. We paid for our own Christmas party through our social fund. Taxpayer paid zippo.

Regarding the CWB I am not opposed to a modest Christmas party for staff and spouses. It's a drop in the bucket.
I am deathly opposed to $1000 stress payments. That was criminal!

This is a tough decision. I am a councillor in a village in Sask. Our water guy is so stupid he can barely draw a breath. He is a shining example of incompetence. No exaggerations. We need to fire him, yet nobody has the courage to do it for fear of no replacement. November council meeting we paid out the Christmas bonuses which I objected to his because he provides no value. He thanked us by leaving town when the power was out, system depressurization and a boil water order. It makes me want to puke, we reward people for doing a bad job and incompetence. Its really sad, its happening everywhere and costing billions.
