    Wheeeewwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fellas, After further review, I can have
another kick at farming in 2011. Signed my
    life away yesterday!!! Here's hoping
seeding can occur this year in this
forsaken wet region. Thanks for your kind
words and caring in my previous post. I
hibernated for a bit there. Now a big load
is off my mind. Other than the snow, and
the excess moisture of course. LOL

Good to hear your reprieve Freewheat. I
was wondering how you were making out. I
hope like hell you can seed anything next
year, it looks like there won't be any
        dogs.

        Happy New Years

great to hear! Around here though the only guys banks will deal with are the ones with relatively small enough acres so that off farm jobs can pay living expense plus interest on loans rent etc. or the guys that are basically too big to put under because no one else will take a chance being this wet with that many acres, I guess in some ways should have been greedy and unwise and doubled the farm, because us mid sized guys that depend totally on the farm we are f'd, gonna get ugly real quick for some of us.

For curiosity sake how many acres do you normally seed? off farm income?

Again good luck in the new year let's hope she dries out!

              fREEWHEAT,

THE LAW OF AVERAGES should be on your side in 2011!!!

I sure hope that is a good thing!

Your banker expects so... that is obvious!

Hope all the best to you and your family...

Perhaps you can take out a CWB permit book, sign the personal guarantee... and take the Force Majeure BPC?

              Grin <(>:{)

              God Bless you!!!

Good job Freewheat. I am a first generation farmer and know how hard it is to grow and expand while trying to make a living. I have a great off farm job which helps, keep going it will be okay.

If BTO picks up more land for next year, then great, I picked up 19 more quarters and lost only 1.... but that does not make a good farmer. Hard work and good sound decisions will make you a success.

Sadly freewheat, the banker won't give a shit about what the reasons are for or for not growing a crop in 2011 as long as he gets paid.

All the best, but in twenty five years at a regular job you could have had a indexed pension and a good life.

                          BTO

You can't be serious about 120 bucks an acre for rent?

That is close to 20 grand a quarter. If the landlord had land worth 160000 a quarter that is an 12.5 percent return on his investment.

I don't care but wouldn't it make more sense to buy the land and make that return for yourself?

You are a very generous person.

                            It's called Pay to Play.

Da land is minimum wert tirty tree hundred per acre cause of Hutts. When you's got colonies that don't care about nothin' utter den chiselin' & cheatin', neighbours & friends, whatch you's gonna do??? Hutts want it all, you's want on da BandWagon??? Den Pay & Smile. I will werk fer nothin' to stop dese Rodents from takin' over.......

You kin't force someone to sell da land if'n dey don't wanna.......

Unfortunately there is one thing you can count on in farming . It is the unprodictibility of the weather. I wouldn't bet everything on a crop . You should have a plan "B".
