Funny though, because he stirred up more attention
than any other thread today, New Year's Day to
boot. He just reminds me of someone I know hiding
behind the anonymity of his keyboard living out his
dreams and fantasies while mired in the dreary and
mundane hopelessness of a Dickens novel. Tolerate
the poor soul -he needs his friends to hate him or
else he feels no one really cares.
Back to marketing. Mother Nature's sh*t show in
South Australia now has submerged an area greater
than France and Germany combined, much of it in
grain growing territory. This has to influence price,
right? But at what point do staple commodities like
wheat and barley get too pricey and marginal
customers simply walk away and let the masses
starve? What's the cap?

Agriville must impose some rules and improve. For this site to be anything more than a place for hillbillies to talk like idiots, or a place for BTO to poke fun at Freewheat for trying to make a living, or BTO posting stupid sexual remarks, then I have no place on my farm for Agriville.

I value the information found on Agriville, but I draw the line when I see some of the attacks by people who simply take pleasure in getting a rise out of people for no apparent reason other than being mean.

Some of the comments BTO made about Mulleefarmer (spelling) from Australia (I value Mulleefarmers comments) were completely out of line as are most of the garbage that comes from his/her mouth.

Recently I stopped reading BTOs posts and comments.... but it only works for a while because to get the full benefit out of a post you must read everything.... this is where banning stupidity would really help.

Hey Pars, I had some beers and wine, great chilli
and pizza chasers (but no creme puffs) with some
really dear friends and reminisced about some of
the good times we had together this past year and
discussed some plans for 2011. I declined the
unprintable for now. Let me know sometime if you
get to Calgary, I'm involved with a little venture
where we try to educate the urban population
(especially young school kids) about the history and
importance of the grain industry in particular both
to our economy and to the food on your table. You
might enjoy seeing it and there may be an
opportunity for the organic industry to incorporate
a teaching module. (Note: we don't indulge in
crusades - just the facts ma'am). You might enjoy it
or at least learning about what we are trying to do.

Hi WM,
Our website is 'grainacademymuseum.com'. We are
going through a major renewal right now and much
of what you see will change enormously in the next
six months thanks to some new leadership and
fresh sponsorship coming on board. We have a half
day program for school kids that attract about
7,000 a year from the different Boards around
Calgary, but are now developing a full day
curriculum. The only limit to what we can do is
getting the bucks and support. We try to use a lot
of technology but that costs money. Thanks for

I guest lectured at the U of S for some time, (I am professionally a teacher) 3rd and year ag students where I also related some of the history of wheat... , too bad you hadn't attended...lolol

Also taught community college classes all over Sask, tried to ration my time in only a few different locations every year after struggling with too much feedback.

I spoke an hour or so at a seminar in Olds, Alberta on herbs and essential oils, I think it was, you can prob google search it, but I was so swamped with queries, I hesitated in those days, to take on too much or farming suffered.

Did a session in Manitoba too,and had people coming to the farm for years, wanting to learn. Oh Rocky,you'll enjoy this, .. also once taught a morning hour at a private school in Winnipeg re Agriculture and the CWB, but the school itself got feedback on that one. You wouldn't guess from whom.

The best thing is people begin growing because they get interested.

The U of S came out here and spent a day taking picture of medicinal and culinary herbs during growing season, catalogued them all and sent me complimentary copies. I think I still have them in a box. Canadian Living also came here and did a 4 page spread and took countless pics of prob 30 varieties of beans...some featured in mag. Professional photographer.

module, we've talked about this quite a lot as we want
to set up a food display that reflects today's options.
We have one, but it is out of date. The only issue is
space and finances. I knew you were a busy body but
thanks for the refresher. See, we can actually conspire
to further the farmer's story without getting mired in a
