    c to c alumni conference 2011

Is anyone going to the c to c alumni conference 2011 in Saskatoon next week?

My wife and I will be going then off to see her parents at Canora, Sask then back to Stoon the following week for the crop production week.

Looking forward to going but won't get much work done in January. We will be going to Ukraine to do mission work in orphanages for 2 weeks leaving Jan 3. Only have 1 week to get work done in Jan.

I am looking for a 1A truck driver/ farm worker to start in Feb for full time employment if anyone knows some one looking for a job.

    Happy new years to everyone.

    Jason

Who pays for transportation? Are there conference fees?

          Jason,

Best to you and yours in 2011!

Hope your dreams and family goals are fulfilled!

          On the C.to C.:

A mention of the PPO 'Adjustment factor' and FlexPro signup time I believe would be appropriate.

On December 31 the CWB charged $21.13/t PPO 'Adjustment factor' and the basis is worse about $5/t since the begining of the month... even though freight costs to move our wheat are the lowest since August.

There is no reason NOT to have cash offers till the end of the crop year... as pooling is supposed to be an option... not a millstone around our necks.

If the Flexpro were signed up when at 'A' series contracts deadlines... this would help. This year Oct 31 was too early to know grades for the signups... this would be better timed if it were November 30 to better work out what our quality is.

          On the Feed wheat EPO:

Even though the feed and wheat complex is up significantly from the first of Dec. 200 percent EPO... at 236/t (Dec 31)... the value is down $6/t while the PRO went up $3/t... a loss of at least $9/t.

This further distorts Arbitrage with international prices and lowers domestic feed grains values in western Canada.

Hope you can take these issues forward!

Could you ask how they screwed the durum producers so bad and maybe if any cwb employees lost their job over the durum mess?

As fàr as I know we pay for our own travel. I will be driving there. Not sure about meals. I think there is a $15 charge for the banquet.
Not sure about the rooms will find out when we get there.

The cwb gives you gas cards based on their estimates of costs.

Its interesting, I bitched about it once asking what cwb employees charge for mileage and they got quite annoyed.

                Haven't been back.

Jag, you must be still in the cwb camp or at least still talking politely at these things.

                  Bucket,

We can disagree without being disagreeable.

It matters not if our point of view is 'right' or 'left'... 'free enterprise' or 'socialist'... 'libertarian' or 'communist'

If we find no way to communicate and better work together... WE FAIL.

We cannot continue to FAIL... we must improve and better serve those who we all are intent we represent!

Jag, all the best in your quest... to bring out the best in the rest!

I have been asked to go to the c to c and I am not sure what it to expect. What I can tell you is that all
expenses are paid including flight to and from Calgary, Taxi, Rooms, Meals, etc. I know these costs upset
most producers, but i never have had the privilege to go to the c to c. I've never talked to anyone in Southern
Alberta who has ever attended this event. Being from southeast of Calgary there isn't many board
supporters. If there are, they are few and far between. So the first thing on my agenda is to meet a board
supporter. Not a 60 something ex farmer, but I want to find a younger farmer with 1000 -2500 ac who truly
believes in the board. When you go to the Barley or Wheat growers meetings you never seem to meet a
supporter, maybe a director from the board thats all. So hopefully I will understand why so many farmers in
Saskatchewan and Manitoba voted the way the do.

                        Bucket,

                        Use your imagination.

Read Craig's post...'Why do we always have to be so negative?'

                        Thanks Jag.

Does Anyone think I will find a younger progressive
farmer who truly believes in the cwb? What are my
                            odds?
