For all Mac users, make sure you stretch you the input box such that your link address is on one line - not two or three.
Looking at my Mac now, the bottom right hand corner of the area I am writing in has two small lines going from left to right.
Take your mouse arrow. Put it on bottom right corner above the two small lines.
Left click the mouse, hold it down and drag the area you are writing in to right. You will expand the writing area from 4 inches to whole width
of the screen if you want.
Make sure your link is only on one line. More than one line on a mac and it won't work when someone clips and pastes the address
Don't know why safari puts in hard returns but it does. To quote you, frickin maddening but what a Macs requires none the less.

For those that are frustrated by not being able to copy these links, clip and paste into something like a word document (anything works
including a notepad), take out the hard returns so the entire address fits on one line, re-copy the address into your browser and away you go.
You can also write the address down and retype it into your browser.
If I were a kid, I could likely tell you an easier way. An adult, not so computer and the only ways I know how - power of experience.
