Will Grain Be Shipped on the Suez Canal?

Muslim Brotherhood: ‘Prepare Egyptians for war with Israel'
    By YAAKOV LAPPIN
    02/01/2011 02:00

A leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt told the Arabic-language Iranian news network Al-Alam on Monday that he would like to see the Egyptian people prepare for war against Israel, according to the Hebrew-language business newspaper Calcalist.

Muhammad Ghannem reportedly told Al- Alam that the Suez Canal should be closed immediately, and that the flow of gas from Egypt to Israel should cease “in order to bring about the downfall of the Mubarak regime.” He added that “the people should be prepared for war against Israel,” saying the world should understand that “the Egyptian people are prepared for anything to get rid of this regime.”

Ghannem praised Egyptian soldiers deployed by President Hosni Mubarak to Egyptian cities, saying they “would not kill their brothers.” He added that Washington was forced to abandon plans to help Mubarak stay in power after “seeing millions head for the streets.”

"Synagogue torched in Tunisia: Jewish leader
    (AFP) – 3 hours ago

TUNIS — Arsonists set fire to a synagogue in the southern Gabes region of Tunisia, a leader of the local Jewish community said Tuesday.

"Someone set fire to the synagogue on Monday night and the Torah scrolls were burned," Trabelsi Perez told AFP, criticising the lack of action by the security services to stop the attack.

"What astonished me was that there were police not far from the synagogue," added Perez, who is also head of the Ghriba synagogue on the island of Djerba, the oldest synagogue in Africa."

Egypt is an importer of oil and food. How long will they go without food and oil? Cutting off your nose to spite your face? They cannot afford to shut down the canal or even stop some shipping.

As land owners, as farmers, you understand how importantly land ownership impacts the world. So many of you have indicated you want to own or rent more.

Property loss or gain causes wars and deepset old grudges that affects all of us.

"Monday, January 31, 2011Palestinians intend to create their own currency this year
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Palestine Monetary Authority will in the coming months set the framework for issuing a new currency, a Palestinian Authority official said Saturday.
“This year will be one of deciding on the monetary regime for the Palestinian state,” Ramallah Gov. Jihad Al-Wazir told Bloomberg news.
Before the Palestine Pound can be issued, a fully independent central bank must be established and the financial system needs to be strong enough to maintain its own currency, Al-Wazir was quoted as saying.
“Dollarisation is one option, as well as a fixed-exchange peg or an exchange-control regime,” he said.
“From a pure economic perspective if you ask us, considering the structure of trade, a peg to the shekel is the most obvious choice, but that is a political issue,” he noted, according to the report.
“We want to make sure, and I am confident we will, that once we cross the line into statehood the Palestinian economy and institutions that have been developed will be able to insure that this will be a robust economy.”
The Palestine Pound has not been used since 1948, the year Israel was established."
