You guys must be really telling tales, because the contingency fund was supposed to have a minor economic impact on wheat and barley producers when they sold the idea:

"There will be no cost to the Government of Canada.

Deductions from any of the sources listed in the regulations would have a minor economic impact on wheat and barley producers. The maximum deduction of $50 million would represent less than 0.2 percent of the value of normal CWB sales over a five-year period. "

Betweeen the discretionary trading losses, the weatherfarm project, and now this shipowning gig - I am really beginning to believe there is money in farming. You have to remember these all count as the intangible benefits of the cwb.

They really should hire the salesman that sold them the ships. He can sell ice to eskimos. He could probably sell wheat and make money.

I believe this will be the beginning of the end for the CWB. I think that most people will see this deal and see the nepotism or good ol'boy cronyism, and will say enough is enough. They are so far out of their league and mandate on this one it is not even funny.
