30,000 pigs swept down the Dawson River in AU!

    Charlie,

    Can you believe this?

    Headline:
    "... during the Queensland floods:

30,000 pigs swept away in flood.

More than 30,000 pigs have been floating down the Dawson River since
    last weekend...

You'd think they would have at least sent a photographer to snap a

    The following day:
    They printed a Correction

What Baralaba piggery-owner Sid Everingham actually said was "30
sows and pigs", not "30,000 pigs"

      Applying the common sense rule
And no one covering the Ipswich flood for Nine News thought this figure incredible – after all, it came from that revered source, the Australian Associated Press.

Wendy Kingston: I’m just reading on a wire Alison a comment from the mayor. He says we were expecting the forty metre rise in the river which is just incredible but he says now that prediction is of 80-90 metres...

80 to 90 metres! Co-anchor Peter Harvey did some quick sums in his head...

Peter Harvey: Alison it’s Peter Harvey. We’re talking about a rise in the river equivalent to a ten storey building. 80 to 90 metres. I mean that is just mind-blowing!
