    Ukraine Wheat Board

Just saw this story. Interesting that it would be unconstitutional in Ukraine but it's fine and dandy here in "free enterprise" Canada. Also note that it would be a disaster for their industry but here in western Canada, it's a great thing. Why can't farmers here see the reality?

LONDON (Dow Jones)--A draft law that would turn Ukraine's grain industry into a virtual state monopoly violates both the country's constitution and
international agreements, according to legal firm Volkov & Partners.

In a notice posted on the website of the Ukrainian Grain Association, Volkov
& Partners warn the law would also severely damage the country's agricultural sector by restricting foreign investment.

"Currently Ukraine is one of the leaders in the world market of grain and sunflower seeds oil," the documents said. "But in case the Draft Law is adopted, Ukraine may lose its positions in the world market of grain and sunflower seeds oil."

Under proposals submitted by members of several parliamentary factions, only
the state-run grain company and farmers would be able to export agricultural commodities from the major Black Sea producer.

Although the proposals were reportedly delayed after the parliament's legal watchdog said they violated many of the country's laws, a political observer said a decision was merely delayed and new plans would be submitted soon.

"It is the farmers who will suffer most," said a trader with knowledge of
Ukraine's grain industry. "The government won't be able to cover the money the international trade houses put on the table at the beginning of the campaign when the farmers need cash."

Also just noticed that farmers would be able to export under this law. So Ukrainian farmers would have even more freedom than we have. Just wonderful!

      CeePen,

      Great Article! Thanks!

Perhaps we can spend some quality time in prison... in the near future!

Being that it is illegal to be TalkingEskimo and want to make a decent living for our farm families!!!

I guess going to prison is the only way to get a constitutional challenge rolling.

It would be against the law here to if we had a government that would do something or had any balls!

Does anyone want to call them and see if they want to buy a slight used Wheat Board bureaucracy.

We can let it go cheap.
