There is an old french weather observation, "le trois fait le mois". Basically the weather on the third day of the month will dictate the weather for the remainder of the month. I usually forget to pay attention on the 3rd of the month. Anyone else heard some interesting old time weather sayings?

Tom,
Is the railway system through the mountain passes running at 100% capacity? How about all the branch lines?
Are the terminals able to handle more grain throughput at the coast? (Would they be able to if they didn't have union workers?)
I was just thinking that if there is room for more movement going West, why doesn't the board look into some extra locomotives to go along with our grain car fleet? We could have a "farmer owned" railway. No?
(You guys probably brought this up years ago, but my mind can't handle that retention level anymore)

Silverback,
WHO at the CWB CARES?
Alberta and Saskatchewan growers pay anyway.
This is a Very astute deal... for Manitoba grain growers... NO DOUBT.
Fransisco... what is the FAF charge on your wheat going east to Quebec east coast ports? How much rail and port charges to Thunder Bay?

I don't believe in any of the old wives tales pertaining to weather. I once said weather was random and someone gave me heck and said, if we don't understand something we tend to right it off as random. I believe there is a science to weather--ask Drew Lerner. Maybe random science, rain is hard to predict but they are pretty good at forecasting wind and temperature!! So as far as I am concerned, put away the Easter eggs and pig spleens and simply enjoy the hoar frost fog produces. Anyone who thinks they can forcast weather has a 50/50 chance of being right no matter what!!!

Yeah I love the farmers almanac! Their
predictions are about as firm as pissing
into a hurricane, or a grandpa with no
Viagra.
They say things obscure like, March will
bring a few flurries mixed with blizzard
like conditions, with a few days near
melting in ther first half followed by
several warm days. Blizzard like
conditions in some areas. Foggy on a few
days. Chance of snow in the south, with
heavier amounts in the north. Fair
conditions but cold at times. Some days
windy, with a few calm days. Melting may
start by the third week, but more snow
may follow.
I mean, some guys think this is gospel.
I call it obscurity and covering every
possible scenario.
If I hear, well the almanac says.....
One more time this winter, I think I'll
squeal like a piggy with a missing
spleen.

Read Krushner, "Why bad things happen to good people?". Says it best describing creation and "all is chaos", including weather. No rhyme or reason, no predictability or control, nobody to blame. To try influence weather or climate is futile.
All we can do is get out of the way or cope. Or go with the flow, or predict the "trend".
Should have been weather forecasters, wrong 50% of time and still get paid.
