I will find a way as well to contribute whatever it takes! I agree that the endless complaining has to stop and its high time to put our money where our mouth is! CN and countless other groups get what they want by effective lobbying! We need to organize educate and do the same! Get'er done! We've had enough already!

A march on Ottawa is so yesterday. Big ads in big national newspapers will be more effective in explaining what the CWB system is doing to western agriculture and in alerting politicians of the strength of anti-CWB feeling.

      1. A proper campaign in both papers would run about $125K. Ad rates are negotiable. Production cost would be negligible.

      2. A full page ad has 5X the impact of a half age ad.

      3. To raise $125K would take 500 contributions of 250, 250 contributions of $500, etc. Each could give what he can with no maximum but a $100 minimum. Any excess would be donated to a universally-approved charitable cause such as world hunger.

      5. Checks would be post-dated to some future date and would not be cashed until and unless there is enough money.

      6. Contributors would be listed by name or 'anonymous' as they prefer. Some may not want to risk CWB retribution.

      7. Donors would see the ad in advance but endless opinionating and suggesting would have to be avoided. Domors who do not want to be associated with it would get their cheque back.

      8. This is a one-shot project to be timed for the pre-election period.

      9. Certainn ag newsletter publishers could be pursuaded to work on a professional ad as a service to their subscirbers.

          John Depape,

Thank you for your reply. Here's how i see it. Yesterday I phoned 4 farmers who are anti-CWB to say the least. I asked them each if they would participate financially in what we are discussing. (lobbies, advertsing etc.) I received the same response from all 4. What will we get for the money??

Here is an idea. Dedicate a portion of any subscriptions into trust until such time as there is enough gas in the tank to head to Ottawa. Provide financial details annually to where these funds are being appropriated. There is a trust issue and a genuine feeling among farmers that a subscription or a donation of any type is a money grab and a waste. They are uninformed. Something has to change here and complete transparency unlike the CWB will garner a bigger support base.

500 bux is nothing in my opinion and if some of the changes I have suggested were to be integrated I am willing to pay much much more than 500 bux. Show me annually where it went and the results, and i will send it again.

Jdgreen is right, what are people signing onto here? Is it a roundabout way for free election spending money for the conservatives to say those liberals and ndp caused all this mess and we conservatives are the answer. Because they clearly have demonstrated this issue is not priority for them.

Is the public the target, because someone in ontario, quebec or maritimes isn't gonna base their vote on western canada cwb issue that's for sure.

Will the truth that the western mps have sat on their asses about this issue be made clear?

Is the target to get liberal and ndp mps to vote for change? I agree with another poster we have more chance of getting rid of the cwb by telling the liberals if you gives option out of cwb we will elect you.

Is the target to get conservatives to actually put up or shut?

Should we attempt to elect independant candidates that would push to bring these bills up for vote?

If liberals came out tommorrow and stated to western canadian farmers if you vote us in we will give you option out of cwb, would you die hard conservatives vote for them? I would in a heartbeat!!!!!

            who is the target?

Only problem riders, is they would lie,
as well, I do not think 2/3's of farmers
would garner enough votes alone. And
finally, whoever is ACTUALLY pulling the
CWB strings, will fight whomever decides
the CWB is to be disbanded. Again, I
think there is something more sinister
than meets the eye at play here. How
else does this make sense??? If the cons
wanted the CWB gone they could have done
it by now, but they are affraid. Of what
I do not know, but it is evil and
threatening enough to make them waffle,
              IMO.

Well free wheat it wouldn't be the first or last time we were lied to would it? in fact when it comes to us farmers it appears every election that happens nothing that is said before gets done by the ones that get in just look at the huge disaster last year and the one coming and the response by our province and their plans for this year. That isn't what they said in opposition.

Maybe you are right about something more sinister but which conspiracy theory?

Here is one, not mine, but one making ground around here is that the conservatives and sk gov do not want the cwb gone or improvements to programs to help farmers in need. The reason being that land in western canada is the hottest property commodity in the world. With the cwb and low prices and ineffective farm support for those in most need that will mean huge amount of farmers go under this year. Who is lined up to buy the land? Where are they getting their money, what people, programs, and what country (USA) is backing them?

Who owns the investment firms buying the land? Land that is not only wanted for the grains but moreso what's under the ground. Do you think the people uprising in middle east was unpredicted? Who is going to take over rule of that region and possibly cut off oil to western civilization? What would be worth more than gold if oil was cut off to the West (think a pound of dirt)

Do you think the controversial government land law in Alberta is not coming here? Why was it proposed in the first place?

Who bankrolled the current sk gov? Think who made trips to oil companies, alberta and the usa prior to election. why did the oil industry wait until the skparty got in until developing the oil at this pace? Was it because of those few bucks oil royalty they are saving or something else?

With that much at stake (world domination) maybe your death threat theory is correct but not for the reasons we may think.

Just something people have been hearing could be all bull but it's interesting!

And then again maybe wheatboard people are aliens trying to reduce the output of wheat so that the global population starves because when the other aliens land it will be easier for the takeover. HA HA HA

I understand the frustrations with the current government but I will never agree that we would be better off with a Liberal government. They are totaly untrustworthy and it will be a sad day for western Canada when they are reelected. This government has made some effort to make changes but they are fought at every level. The CWB takes government to court with farmers money. There are still many farmers in western Canada that support the board and have their own campaign going to lobby MPs. I am hopeful that we have an election soon and that the Conservetives win a majority government. Then there will be no more excuses. Now is not the time to turn our backs on this Government.

Every grain grower on this thread... HAS A DUTY TO SIGN UP AND GO TO THE CWB "business meeting' their director has in their OWN District.

I must drive 2 hours... because our District 4 SK. Director is too scared to come into Alberta.

He deserves special attention on Monday in Macklin at 10am at the Communiplex.

FIND where your 'local' yokel is meeting... don't let them get away without verbal 'boat anchors' hanging out of their ears!!!

They need to find out what being the Captain of a Ship... is really all about!!!

                        Tom (and all others):
I am currently writing up series of questions to take with you to these CWB meetings and ask your director. I will post it here and send to my email list.

If you want on the email list, let me know.

I find sad that the farmers for just me are not smart enough to think up their own questions, they have to get the hired gun to think for them

Nice momentum. I have not seen Parsley weigh in here lately. I think she has some valualbe in sight to the CWB, and she is definitely effective finding fact, and documentation to prove them. I know its not fair to drag her into this without approval, but I have missed her insight lately, just don't know where she went!!

                              Hobby,

Never fear... Parsley is always near!

                              Grin (:

I talked with Parsley; is busy writing a book... something many of us could try... there is certainly enough info to fill a book here!!!

Stubble... the 'hired guns' are all being paid for out of our families pool account cheques...

Name one person on here... right now... (on this tread) being paid to fight the CWB injustice and corruption we all face!

                              NICE try.

Your unjust insults are noted and recorded.

Isn't this why the WCWG was created?

"who believe open and competitive markets, innovation, and investment are key to creating a stronger and more prosperous agricultural sector. We are governed by a voluntary board of directors, all of whom are farmers who share a passion for agriculture and a determination to make farming more profitable. "
