Do we need a Stable Canadian Economy? OR EXTORTION...

    Dear parsley et al...

Went to the PM Harper event in Beaumont AB yesterday.

Listened to the 'Duce' on CPAC... just so funny to watch him turn RED... when asked by federal media why Quebec 'Sovereignists' don't print Sovereignty on election information and material!

The Duce calls PM Harper a liar over and over... while the 'Duce' is simply an extortionist...(to extort our $$$ for a vote in the federalist coalition & Parliament) who isn't honest enough to admit it in public... which is why he turns so RED in the face!!!

Here is interesting info from the Edmonton Journal reporter Elise Stolte who spoke with me at the PM Harper event.

BEAUMONT - The crowd may have filled the gym to see Stephen Harper, but the largest billboards Monday were for new Conservative golden boy Ryan Hastman, the man with a chance to paint over the only orange dot on an otherwise blue Alberta map.

Hastman was the first to the microphone at the Ecole Bellevue School's gym in Beaumont and introduced the rest of the local Conservative lineup as if they were a hockey team.

“A hero to bus drivers everywhere - Brent Rathgeber. From Edmonton East, a fearless and tireless fighter for his constituents - Peter Goldring,” he called into the microphone.

“On May 2, let’s paint Alberta blue, every last one of them,” the Conservative prime minister said when his turn came. “I can say that with confidence, because besides all of these great members of Parliament beside me, we have an excellent candidate for Edmonton-Strathcona in Ryan Hastman.”

Hastman is running against incumbent NDP candidate Linda Duncan.
Even those from outside Edmonton-Strathcona held Hastman signs.

“Ryan’s going to have a challenge to win,” said Tom Jackson, a Killam-area grain farmer.

The “fortunate” from secure ridings around Edmonton will give everything they can to help Hastman out, he said. “We can give him the extra support he needs.”

Harper told the crowd he reluctantly visited the Governor General Saturday to dissolve Parliament, blaming opposition parties for the fall of his minority government.
“This is not where I should be right now. We should all be back in Ottawa at our desks, working on the economy,” he said.

He stressed the fragile nature of the current economic recovery, credited Conservative initiatives and said a majority Conservative government would bring the country stability.

“Canada, this country, is the closest thing the world has to an island of security. That’s the truth, that’s what everyone else in the world thinks,” he said. “Canada must have a strong, stable national government that only this party can provide.”

      Wilagro,

We are 'fortunate' because by far the majority of folks in Alberta... are 'true blue' Conservative.

In Edmonton Strathcona... we need all folks to "stand on guard for Canada" to make sure the 'Duce','Iggy' along with 'jack and jill' do NOT run our great country into the ground like Obama is running the US into a black hole!

The crowd may have filled the gym to see Stephen Harper, but the largest billboards Monday were for new Conservative golden boy Ryan Hastman, the man with a chance to paint over the only orange dot on an otherwise blue Alberta map.

Hastman, the Conservative candidate for Edmonton-Strathcona, was the first to the microphone and introduced the rest of the Conservative lineup like a hockey team.

"A hero to bus drivers everywhere -Brent Rathgeber," he told the crowd.

"From Edmonton East, a fearless and tireless fighter for his constituents -Peter Goldring."

The prime minister then took over and exhorted the crowd of several hundred to help his team win every Alberta seat.

"On May 2, let's paint Alberta blue, every last one of them," said Harper, as the crowd yelled and waved supplied homemade banners and party signs.

"I can say that with confidence, because besides all of these great members of Parliament beside me, we have an excellent candidate for Edmonton-Strathcona in Ryan Hastman."

Hastman is running against incumbent NDP candidate Linda Duncan, the only sitting opposition MP from Alberta.

At the elementary school gym in Beaumont, even many people from outside Edmonton-Strathcona held Hastman signs.

"Ryan's going to have a challenge to win," said Tom Jackson, a Killamarea grain farmer.

The "fortunate" from secure ridings around Edmonton will give everything they can to help out, he said. "We can give him the extra support he needs."

Harper did not take questions from the media, but told the crowd he reluctantly visited the governor general on Saturday to ask him to dissolve Parliament, blaming opposition parties for the fall of his minority government.

"This is not where I should be right now. We should all be back in Ottawa at our desks, working on the economy," Harper said.

He stressed the fragile nature of the current economic recovery, credited Conservative initiatives for job creation and said a majority Conservative government would bring stability.

"Canada, this country, is the closest thing the world has to an island of security. That's the truth, that's what everyone else in the world thinks," he said.

"I know that you are here for one thing, you are here for Canada."

"Yes, Canada," yelled Jackson and the crowd.

"People here in Edmonton, they have come to this country from the world over because they believe in it," said Harper.

"They don't want members of Parliament who are going to sign on to Mr. (Michael) Ignatieff's reckless idea to lose an election and then run Canada backed by the NDP and Bloc Québécois.

"People here know that Canada needs a government with a clear direction for our economy."

Harper visited Edmonton just once during the 2008 election, stopping briefly to speak with an invitationonly crowd of about 1,000 Tories at the Ramada Hotel near the City Centre Airport.

He also visited just once during the 2006 campaign, speaking with Tories in a hangar at the Alberta Aviation Museum.

Tories may be convinced they can kick Duncan out, but the New Democrat MP said she won last time because Harper took Edmonton voters for granted.

"Since he's been elected, he hasn't spent much time in Alberta, period, let alone in Edmonton," Duncan said.

"He just takes us for granted. That's the way people feel."

She pointed as an example to Harper's decision not to fund Edmonton's Expo 2017 bid, even after he encouraged cities to go after the world's fair.

"It shouldn't come as a surprise to them that I took down one of their members. That's what happens when you take a riding for granted. That's why I'm hopeful we are going to have a few more this time," she said.

The Expo bid meant a lot for the Mill Woods-Beaumont riding, said local Liberal candidate Michael Butler.

"We got our funding cut for the Expo, which in turn cut funding for the Mill Woods LRT. It's caused a huge ripple effect," Butler said.

"That's a huge issue, especially for people in Mill Woods who care about the environment and care about getting downtown and getting around the city."

I have to Agree with you Tom, we need a stable Economy and to do this we need to get rid of Harper, who is spending money like a drunken sailor.

Mulroney had a record $46 billion deficit and Harper started gov't with a $12 billion Surplus and now he is at $56 billion deficit.

No wonder he wouldn't tell parliament how much his crime and punishment bill was going to cost. Or how much the jets were going to cost (est at close to $43 billion for the two !!!)

I am thinking you are a good money manager Tom and I pray you will vote for fiscal responsiblity and not for Harper

          Wading in.......lol

Mussy, I agree with you that Harper has been on a spending binge. He has. And I've posted so many of his free ag goodies on AV. Glad you call a spade a spade. I don't like it.

Question for you: I am willing to give up every free ag cookie governments serve. Are you?

I will send the message to the CP's to quit spending and be more fiscally responsible. Hopefully they will notice if lots of folks like you and I send that message over and over.

Would Jack be less of a big spender, though? I think not.

And Count Iggy? Do you suppose he's ever done without? Or ever will?

          I think not.

And then there's green Liz. LOL.

Who is fiscally responsible then, mussy, to state it loudly and mean it, and is believable enough to not cause my cat to giggle? Pars

Rather like being a settler in the 1890's. Mussy is looking for a wife, and the neighbor has 4 uglier than ugly critter daughters...

            One even looks green.

No matter how many times you claim each one is beautiful....well.....a person has to "see" for themselves.

TOM, what mention of the CWB was made? Was there anything inferred about giving farmers CHOICE?

To have a 'huge ripple effect' how much do you think the Expo cost would have been for the Edmonton, Alberta, and Canadian Governments?

$20Billion... perhaps for an Edmonton Expo? COuld we really afford to saddle our economy and grandchildren for this frothy frill? Truly... what 'productive' would have been created? THIS IS LIBERAL, Bloc, and ND Coalition spend and tax policy... for our future.

PMHarper did all Albertans and Canadians alike an absolute huge favour.... when he said NO. Edmonton's Mandel set a trap... the expo not at all properly costed...

Was a huge economic 'Black Hole'.

Sooo PM Harpers True colours came out... Conservative principals.

No Question PM Harper is the only Conservative in this federal election!

                  BB,

As I said on the Iggy thread:

                  Mustardman,

Perhaps you do NOT forgive... will NEVER forget... and Love the CWB enough that a Conservative Majority is the last thing you would want... because you know the CWB would be in for a massive change.

                  Proof?

As I indicated on the 'Extortion' thread:

"We got our funding cut for the Expo, which in turn cut funding for the Mill Woods LRT. It's caused a huge ripple effect," Butler said."

BB... If you Know PM Harper... you need not fear his true motivation.

If we do not get rid of the Extortionists in Ottawa being the majority... the CWB will become a much smaller problem... as you will hear a great 'sucking' sound... as the prosperity of western Canada enters that great 'black hole' of coalition extortion and greed sucking vacuum that will NEVER be satisfied!

Speaking of fat cats , have any one of these so called leaders done physical work for more than 15 minutes. They all belong to the political elite and have no understanding of who is providing the largesse they are promising. Harper does have a track record, fiscally irresponsible. He won't raise taxes because it is politically unwise when you are a minority, but we all know someone will have to pay for our balloning debt. All his projections will go out the window when interst rate rise as Carny predicts, then what? Someone will have to pay off our debt. Like it or not that is real, not like Harper!
