4 weeks to seeding in SW Sask.

took a hard look around today. Cant drive most back roads as they are still drifted in. Will take 3 weeks of seasonal temps just to melt all the white shit and another week to dry up. We are best case starting May 5th or so. If we are in this predicament I can only imagine what other areas are looking like. One thing is certain in the SW, it will dry up and we will seed. Gonna be another late one.

A foot of snow in the fields in the NE. All white but next 5 days forecast warmer than the south. Plus 5 today, minus 11 tonight, 8-11 next 5.
Betting 6 weeks minimum. Going to be a whopper one in a 100 year wet spring before seeding. If it rains at all before June we are screwed.

We could be in field 4-5 weeks. The wild card will be the May rains. If we do not get many crop will still get in not early but not late. Last year as soon as the roads were dry enough to get down was able to start seeding.

Just went out into the home quarter
walking on a deer trail with a long stick.
Shallowest I found the snow to be was 18
            inches. Deepest the stick disappeared
before ground contact. Stick is a smidge
over three feet long. Me thinks we in
trouble... Out in the open on fairly flat
land. Your welcome for the water, fishing
            lake!

Hey Dale who is that poster on here that posts once in awhile and complains about farmers drainin water into Fishin Lake cause he got a cabin out there??? Big deal wes here in Manitoba gotta put up wit all yous water in the end & yous ain't hear us complainin now do ya's??? Roughly a Million Square Miles drains into Lake Winnipeg, then out to Hoodson Bay. Buy the Cabins out and fill Fishin Lake so freakin full of water it aint even funny, the way it should be. Git the water off the land or don't come cryin to me when yous are broke cause of a little ole water......

SE Sask will be the the 5 - 15 of may before we start....Hopefully Starting to wonder about a compressed season and whether or not we will have Fertilizer allocation problems again.

Fields here (NW MB) are turning blacker by the day. 5"
of snow at the most on average on the fields... lots of
                    big bare patches.

Ditches are filling up, and my basement is continually
                    getting pumped...

Probably May 5 here before we get into the ground.

way to the neighbors this morning.

If you guys down south are a month away and
we are a month away in the ne, how in the
world are the going to be able to keep up with
anhydrous. There is going to be allot of waiting
                          this spring.

Wheatking, you really only a month away? holy crap, I expect 2 to 3 weeks to get rid of the snow, then the drying, and how long that will be who knows? I will say that the cold is freezing out the puddles at night maybe that will help but it is also slowing the snow melt. I think seeding at all before first week in june not likely.
