Hottest Commodity in our area is USED or NEW AIR DRILLS!

Well the snow isn't gone yet and roads are washed out and one can see geese are back so farmers turn their attention to seeding. The hottest commodity in our area this spring is a second or third air drill. Just about every single neighbor big or small has replaced or added Two or three Air drills to their line up. Millions been spent.
Local dealers are sold out. Even the old trades are leaving yards and being dragged to every area around.
Yes we are going to be late, yes its wet, But this is Saskatchewan the weather can turn. Were usually one rain away from drought in some areas. But yes getting it all seeded as early as possible is still the best. Now don't get me wrong some years the latter yields way better, cold soil and spring frosts hurt early stuff, long warm wet days help latter.
Hey if you cant beat them join them. Seed-master won out on our farm so now I can compare the 3310 to Seed-master. Should be fun. One thing is for certain the old standby Air Drill is also dropping in value. Time will tell. Good luck those who's fields are drying out were two to three weeks away from going. Still could sled in our area but lots of bare areas after yesterday. Highway to Yorkton might get wiped out at Hanson's Creek if it would have stayed warm today.

The local dealers are a flury of action setting up new drills. the weather has not been kind to the setup guys either. There are a few new drills in our area as well.

What drill is the best in the mud. Hoe or disc.

The reason I ask is as I look out across the fields all I see is snow and water.

Might be floaters if this saturated soil gets any more rain or snow.

I would like to find a Leon rodweeder 48-60 foot. With all the direct seeding, there must be one gathering dust, hiding deep in the backyard somewhere in rural Sask!

Saskframer, Get a bigger tractor, wit a
blade on it and start clearing the snow.
Then, get a bigger drill and start
seedin. Er better yet, pull the drill,
while bladin, put down, lots and lottsa
              expensive fertilizer. Seed frost
              resistant canolie, corner to corner.
Then go take another round the world
holiday wit the wife. Pull the kids
outta school take them wit ya, and the
neighbours too. You got the cash, spend
it, quit whinning and snivelin fer a
change. There I done yea business plan
fer this year. Your a master framer
              after all, ain't ya??

Burbet, I am better at fishing than farming, and my fishing buddies regard me as quite a master baiter. LOL
I like what I am doing farming, I would prefer a wider Leon rod weeder.

We bought a valmar to put on the harrows incase we need it to seed canola. We also bought a floater truck to put fertilizer on, and a 3rd 4wd and drill last year.

Total cost for new equipment for wet years: $375,000

Total cost of sleepless nights until seeding: Priceless

For the most part airdrills are selling cheap at auctions - make sense? 8810 bourg are selling higher and new ones are gone due to high demand. The heavier 5710's are still goin cheap.
