CWB rubs salt in the wounds

Story out last week from the board commenting
how producers are not moving to high yield feed
wheats but have chosen to stay with higher valued
milling wheats. What this points out is that as long
as the board remains in control of all export wheat,
they will make sure that the spread remains. On a
year like this there should be excellent
opportunities to move feed wheat into the U.S. at
good values which would narrow the spreads
between feed and milling. Given the opportunity on
my farm I would much rather grow high yielding
feed grade wheats where I could lock in a good
value prior to seeding. I am in a marginal HRS
wheat production area so doing the same with
milling wheat is much more difficult. The board still
seems to be feeling the threat of eroding milling
wheat acres in the post KVD era. If the board wasn't
in place we would likely see a much different
production dynamic happening. Till then we will
have to put up with the board slant with them
    handling all the trump cards.

Well said Craig. Export licences for feed grains granted to producers is sufficient to force the needed changes.

How about an ag minister that says the cwb monopoly is done and then a prime minister that will take it to the electorate. The liberals won't talk about ag and neither will the ndp.

So far, no ag issues on the campaign. Everything is rosy according to the conservatives on the farm.

A neighbor of ours spoke with people in Ritz's office last spring pleading our case and situation, and the reply was in the end that farmers in Western Canada need to understand that they are not as competitive as countries like Ukraine etc. therefore should be doing something else with the land. WTF would that be? That is why CWB, agriscrewyouability, crop insurance area and always will be crap under the Conservatives, they do not even believe in Canadian agriculture. And yet blind hill billies out here so worried about signing a f'n paper to register a gun give me a f'n break, but won't say a word about a f'n moron for a ag minister!

You've been slagging the conservatives for weeks and you expect us to believe that story about your "neighbor"?

I am no fan of Mr. Ritz, but there is no way you can expect us to believe that story without some proof! Send us a copy of that "conversation"

If I'm a hillbilly for maybe owning a gun and thinking the government should spend their time chasing real criminals, then you are a commie pinko who licks the boots of your government masters. You seem to think that society and the government needs to support you in everything you do and protect you from yourself. Get a life and try a little personal responsibility. Life isn't always fair and the only one that needs to support you is you.

Rider2010- complete BS. There is absolutely no way that anyone in Ritz's office would say we can not compete with Ukraine and that we have to do something different with the land. I would suggest this is Mr Goodale in disguise but i bet even he would not suggest someone in Ritz's office would say that.

We all remember that it was Jack Layton that told us at agdays in Brandon a few years ago that he was sorry that our cows we afflicked with Sars... He repeated himself numerous times or and over again with the urging of Rosanne W Manitoba's ag minister... Our National Liberal leader is a US citizen at heart, never ran his own bussiness and lived most of his life in the USA at his house in boston m.
