    Fransisco,

We had 5 people over the age of 18 in our household... that dramaticlly are affected by the CWB that just voted May 2nd. 80% of folks in our area voted for Conservative... not one should have been unaware of policy on CWB to end the monopoly.

MP Sorensen had pro CWB calls... and told them to vote against him if they didn't like Conservative policy on the CWB monopoly. Long Gun control the same.

This is done. 1943 the CWB got its monopoly... NO VOTE THEN by grain growers: it is now 2011... just like the Crow debate with no vote to end it... so is the CWB monopoly to end with no vote; to end it.

NO one should be surprised... least of all Allen OBERG. They had from 2006 to prepare. The CWB royally messed up. The stupid SHips could have well cost the NDP 5 seats. The CWB PPO basis tax was really stupid to take our money and put it in the pools! CRAZY to take $40/t off our families wheat; very dishonest.

The CWB should have been in switch over mode right now... with 5 years of planning and a reputable rational seemless transition.

NOW what is the CWB PLAN?

I am very glad I will not be charged with the mess the elected Directors just made of the CWB corporation.

OBERG et al did it to himself/themselves.

Explain to me, how a federal law, can be applied to
only designated citizens of Canada. If that is not
discrimination, please explain what it is.
I cannot understand why there would be opposition to
      making the CWB voluntary.

        Samhill;

The CWB Act applies to all of Canada... just markets the wheat and barley from the 'designated area' not the rest of Canada.

Quebec has its own wheat marketing agency under provincial law; just like each supply management sector like milk, chicken, turkey; etc. Ontario the same. Alberta before 1974 have enabling legislation for the CWB on the grains it handled.

Consitutionally both provincial and federal statutes are needed to properly cover marketing of grain by an Act internationally: as Agriculture is a shared consitutional jurisdiction.

The CWB Act was rewritten in 1998 by Goodale to stop Govenor in Council changes without full federal Parliament approval: votes to be required if any change on monopoly.

To declaw the CWB Act; it must be disected and the present Act ( C/W Goodale vote traps) ended that required and had restrictions on what Parliament could do.

The break fee for those boats should be passed on to the directors. They voted to buy them without consultation.

If they are forced to cancel the order, farmers should not be on the hook for their mistake.

What is so bad about owning those boats? The CWB owns rail cars does it not?

If the board can buy boats without having a vote with farmers why cant the govt make the board optional with out a vote? Oberg and friends think they have clout wait to see what ritz can do. We voted for ritz and we voted for oberg whoever has the hammer should exercise it!!

If the conservative can buy a bunch of jets and refuse to tell us how much exactly it will cost I guess whats to stop them from dismantling the wheat board because only a small minority want them to.

How are jets, wheat and rail cars the same? Are you sure on that question. One protects my sovereignty at all costs, which I demand of my government of the day, don't you? The other-get your fricken hands off my property and ships and cars will not be a problem.

Notaredneck, you really believe that only a few
want that? It's a matter of equality and human
                    rights.

Tom4CWB: Thnak you for your answer.
I disagree. The purpose of law is to protect
citizens, otherwise no justice. The law can say all
citizens are subject, but only redheads will pay
taxes. A gov't agency will decide if you have red
hair or not. When a designation is made to
                      separate some citizens , then
it's discrimination. Or are you saying all Canadian
wheat growers have to sell to the CWB, I think not.
                      Arguments over interpretation (semantics) don't
make it just. Those with the power may use the
power to their advantage. Corporations are
sociopathic and very skilled at rationalizing their
agenda. Sorry, trying to be brief.

you board lovers feel free to go right ahead and set up your own mandatory marketing board just like we are under now. That should keep you happy.

We don't need fighter jets, just strap a couple fireworks to some canadian geese - that will teach em...

If it makes sense to own rail cars and boats then the same logic applies to owning semis. The cwb could then pick up the grain and put it in the proper facilty.

For those of you who think the cwb is a good thing, tell them to start paying the freight from my yard and charge it to their customers.

The only farmer vote the CWB will get is farmers deciding to pool their grain thru the voluntary CWB.

                                samhill,

I wasn't explaining what I THOUGHT the CWB Act was. I was simply giving you the coles notes version of the CWB Act and its development IS.

This opinion has been learned over 15 years, is supported by numerous Court decisions... and thousands of hours of study under many many lawyers and folks of every political and moral standard.

We have been to the Supreme Court of Canada seeking leave in multiple cases on this CWB statute.

It all comes down to this: It is up to Paliament to change the CWB Act... NOT grain growers... not lawyers... not court cases... not wishful thinking.

The Conservatives will need the wisdom of Solomon to handle this mine feild of politics. Goodale did the CROW in with no apparent negative side effects. The Crow was worth much more than the CWB to grain growers.

Therefore this needs to be fixed quickly and fairly.
