Dear Fellow Farmers
As you know, Sun Media is no longer available on Bell. I called them today, and asked the reason, and the flippant customer service reply was: "Bell got rid of it".
We're typical Bell users. No trouble. Pay our $125.00 monthly bill, and shut up. Bell provider has been good, and partic b/c they offer UFC for me. :~)
I suggested they offer a special monthly-fee SunMedia channel, but they weren't prepared to consider the suggestion.
I can get every Arabic/Hindu/Mandarin language and porn and religious program, but I can't get Sun? Even if I am willing to pay for it?
This is about choice all over agian, isn't it, folks.
I did tell them I would post this on an ag blog and that I would write up an article for AVers. I wasn't nasty, or rude. They promptly hung up in my ear. And then called back later so that I could verbalize my comments to an automated complaint division monitoring calls.
Not good business practices; rather, the arrogant manner and procedures of the very familiar voice of a smug monoply who doesn't care what 42,000 Saskatchewan farmers think.
Farmers are often written off as stupid schnook, and I'm sure the CWB owns the teaching manual, because Bell manages with a page from it.
What is at issue for all of us, is once service providers will only offer what they select, what they deem suitable for you, in their minds, instead of what the subscriber wants, means we've got problems. Rural problems.
We don't have the choice of providers that cities do.
So we will end up stuck with a couple of service providers.Offerring channels they choose for us. Selected from the channels city folks won't subscribe to, but they have to offer because of Canadian content, and CRTC monopoly. And costs will zoom.
It's not a left or right issue.. government's change. Rather, it's downloading duds on rural folks who've ended up with one or two providers because we sat quietly and accepted our fate, as do steers. We really don't want to miss the pleasure programming can bring, do we?
I want to check Shaw. Does anyone get UFC on Shaw? An addict cannot be without UFC.
Our present satellite reciever needs upgrading, so it's a good time for change. After all, I do like to pick the color of the dress I wear, and the read the book I choose. You know, ..I'm that kind of woman, Clyde. Ya still behind me? lol
Just reporting in, and would like to hear about your service providers. Parsley
