MCGA Ending Voluntary Marketing Option For Canola with CWB

Voluntary Marketing Option for Canola has Ended

The Manitoba Canola Growers' Association (MCGA) today announced that it will not be moving forward with a voluntary marketing option for canola. The Board of the MCGA feels that there is insufficient producer interest to proceed with the initiative. The Board of the MCGA would like to thank the many farmers who participated in the survey either on-line or by completing and returning the tear-off in the advertisement which appeared in April editions of the Manitoba Co-operator and the Western Producer farm newspapers.

The recent survey of prairie canola growers was the result of a resolution passed by the membership of the MCGA at the 2005 annual general meeting asking their board of directors to investigate an alternative marketing option for canola.

The Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) has been advised that the MCGA will not be proceeding with its voluntary marketing initiative due to lack of producer interest.

MCGA is a member organization committed to maximizing net income from canola.

Freedom goes both ways. The new voluntary
wheat board can offer marketing in all
commodities - right nettle and vader?

Gotta be fair- freedom is the pillar of our society.
