The CWB seems to think they have farmer support. Think there should be a vote. Only 2 choices. Single desk and Choice marketing. Vote should not be a mail in but everyone should have to vote in person with ID and a valid permit book. Landlords who have turned over marketing to renters should not get a vote. Only people who have contracted grain through the CWB in the last 2 years have a valid permit book and are still active farmers should be able to vote. Bet the results would be 80% choice.

Interesting criteria. How about those of us that are actively farming and have already chose to market outside of the board and don't hold a permit book. Our operation is affected by CWB marketing and we are eligible to hold a permit book. If we go down this road again I want the privilege to vote even though I vote already with what I choose to grow.

The results would be the same as the last Wheat Board Elections.
That's why the gov't will try and end it.
This gov't can't have something like democracy get in the way of its ideology.

NO Vote.!!!! It is rigged MNP is in cahoots with the CWB, how much do you think they get paid every two years for these elections? I voted for the Conservatives to make it volentary so lets get it done. I will vote with my truck after that.

Yes there may be farmers who realy deserve to vote that are not included. But this would eliminate most of the farmers who should have no say. This vote would be much differant than electing someone. Only 2 choices and farmers sometimes just vote for a person and never read what they stand for. And I would question who all got their hands on mail in votes.

Mustard,
Democracy on May 2nd 2011 just elected the Conservatives... with a massive majority in the 'designated area'... It would have been very hard to have missed the policy on the CWB and market choice. Especially because Goodale changed the CWB Act to create the monopoly in 1996.
To this day; the word 'monopoly' is still not in the CWB Act. NEVER has been. In 1935 the CWB started as voluntary without a vote.
"Cliff Breitkreuz Yellowhead, AB
Mr. Speaker:
Farmer David Sawatsky had just won his case, The court said: "Hey, wheat board, get out of his face",
The feds used French law because they say we are bound, But Sawatsky stood strong and held his ground.
But only forty-five minutes is the time that it took, For the minister and his cronies to rewrite the book..."

"....This vote would be much differant than electing someone. Only 2 choices and farmers sometimes just vote for a person and never read what they stand for."
With such a low opinion of your fellow farmers intelligence do you really believe they have the capability to sucessfully market their grain to the world independently?

After all the court challenges came back saying that the true power over the cwb was in the hands of the gov't, the liberals and ndp were happy as clams because they knew that it would never pass in the house of commons with a minority gov't.
Did you read that? They loved it.
But now, we hold the cards.
You can smell the fear in the morning can't you?
There shall be no vote. The vote for true power over the cwb, as determined by the supreme court, was held on May 2, 2011.
Har har, hardy har har!

The wheat board didn't respect the vote on barley. So why would they respect another one? The conservatives are right, end the monopoly and let farmers vote with their trucks just like they do with everything else.
There's nothing more democratic than the marketplace. Which is exactly what the boardies are afraid of.

If they have a vote, the coordinator will get the information from the cwb and then there will be dead people voting just like the last cwb election.
Estates should not get votes.period. As the person who would vote isn't there to make the x.
The fact is no one voted to bring this into being so it doesn't need a vote to take it out.
Just some politicians with the balls they all say they have.
