Just curious if the question will be continuation of the currnet CWB single desk or CWB as an alternative in an open market. Or will be the question be CWB as today or no CWB (ceases operation). The barley plebescite critisism was the 3 part question with the implication the open market portion was not fair - the CWB could not survive in world of competition.

Whatever happens will require a change in the CWB act. Has anyone thought what will be in a new CWB act - changes to the old act, new classes, etc. Governance, structure, financing operations/risk, accountability.

Burbert, why do you want to force me to sell to the
CWB if you believe in freedom. I'm quit willing to allow
you to sell to your choice.

          How's this for a question:

Given only these two choices, which do you support:

          A. A mandatory CWB
          B. A voluntary CWB

Don't get me wrong by my last post - I don't think there should be a vote at all.

              jdepape,

It should be 'manditory' for the single desk supporters... and voluntary for those who need marketing choice!

John Gormley had a very good point last night.

Sk has always been behind Ab... because of attitude. In 1956 the oil industry came to Ab... guess where from... Sk. Tommy Douglas didn't want any wealthy folks in Sk... so these people drilled Leduc #1 in Alberta.

              Now the reverse is occuring.

Premier Wall and Sk. want prosperity and freedom much more than the Alberta PC's. Guess what the result is... business moves back to Sk.

This same attitude is what the requested CWB vote is about... a vote to hold back the neighbour's farm and family... and make sure they can't get ahead of anyone... we must all be equal.

              Sk socialism.

CWB pooling and Contingency fund... why there are no CWB cash prices that reflect world markets that instead more closely resemble the pool averages within a range that socialists can tolerate!.

Premier Wall needs to provide guidence... and Minister Ritz isn't responsible to do this by himself.

Old habits die hard... especially CWB socialism.

This will really shake up all the Conservative voters who Can't vote for anybody else but cons but
                still Want the Board.
They have blinders on when they vote and can't imagine the cons going thru with the dismantling of the board.
                Sounds Crazy but true

Maybe Tom, This is Why the conservative candidate Always Wins by a landslide yet in CWB elections for example Stuart Wells wins the election.

There Are LOTS OF Conservative Supporters who will want the board.

Don't ask me why they vote Conservative probably some correlation to lack of education and open-mindeness

Perhaps we all need to review the CWB surveys.

From the CWB survey of permit book holders, how you ask the question has a big impact on results. Even the CWB survey shows farmers what an open market with the CWB as an alternative for wheat. Ask the question CWB or not, the split is a lot closer to 50 50. The question on barley is a lot clearer. Open market for barley (really is already today given 75 to 80 % is sold into the domestic feed market) is the clear choice of western Canadian farmers.

Pretty much sums up a CWB supporter. Good one Mustard.

                        cwb elections are preferential ballots.

How would have it turned out in the cwb elections if the first count was used only?

I do not need to vote on how or where my neighbor sells his grain. I am more than willing to award him his freedoms and hope that he is willing to do the same for me. Any vote of any kind will just lead to more misinterpertation of the results by all those anti-choice hacks who won't even recgnize the CWBs own producer survey results. The conservative platform was clear, they won their majority, lets get on with it and maybe even the socialist will realize that it 2011 and not 1943.

Burbert, you can suck it up just like all these
young entrepreneurial farmers have been forced
to suck up the monopoly for too many years. See
how it feels! You better get used to the fact that
you don't call the punches anymore. Adios

There already was a vote. The results were a majority conservative who said end the CWB. No more votes required.
