LOL Wow, this topic really brings out the best in people. With all the fancy name calling and colourful language, I'd swear (lol) it was high school all over again...or Parliament is back in session.
So by a couple people's reasoning, the Hutterites must really, really, really...REALLY want that old mushroom place by Portage, since for the 6 or so hours that I was there helping sand bag on Saturday, the majority of people there were Hutterites.
Mmmmmhhhh, I wonder what they want with those big piles of rubble? No doubt some diabolical scheme to take over the world...isn't that right, Pinky.

And as for child labour...was I the only child (not from a Hutterite colony) who worked, or slaved as I sometimes like to describe it, on the farm growing up.
I think most farmers who have kids make them work, so I think we're all guilty of violating child labour laws. Which by the way, are there any statues of limitations on that??? Or maybe statuTes?
I know my grandpa and my dad took full advantage of their kids.

When I was 13 I got paid 2 dollars per hour and was a net financial benefit to my dad. My kids cannot say they are a financial benefit yet LOL. Times are a little different these days. Learning work ethic is good, trying to teach it to an 18 year old that has friends constantly riding in the tractor bringing drinks and cannot get up in the morning and then wants evenning off to go fishing, texting forever, catch them sleeping on sofa when you thought he was out working in your field, while should be working and making money. Where are the good men?

Hopperbin, there are still good farm boys. Our
friends have 2 sons, both farmers. They party
and have fun, but when it's time to work the
farm, there is nowhere they would rather be.
But their father puts his foot down, makes them
pay their way and calls to remind them if they
forget for a moment that farm is number 1.
They are responsible young farmers and real
good men.
