    How Long?

How long do you think before you can hit the fields?

    #2
I am going to guess 10 days but it is supposed to be a helluva good week of weather so maybe that will knock a few days off. What's your guesstimate Klause?

Some harrowing and cultivating here, but draws are wet wet and lots of potholes. Even V-ditchers working.
Big water is BIG, will take weeks to drain. Some fields are 30% smaller.
Highest land will be seeded any day, just to start.
Big problem is very soft spongy road spots will make risky trucking. Anhydrous truck could ruin them.
Partial loads only? Some roads still banned. Not having fun.

Well, I went out to pick a few rocks yesterday, and could scarcely get around the field, and burried the tractor in one of the dryer spots. I think late next week MAYBE. A few guys are cultivating around wet areas, harrowing, but all of them have spent a half hour out there and given up. One recreational tiller was out banding something yesterday, going around near as much as he was able to apply.

Ahhh but it was nice being in the field again regardless. I think there is hope, providing it doesn't rain in the next month. The forecast other than tues wed looks excellent finally, highs in the 20 all days.

Good luck to all you wet guys. It is painful to sit and wait, aint it?

Don't see sf3 on here these days. Thought he ran out of dry ground, lol.

Blackberry lost in the MUD? Perhaps.
Very hard to wait, but 20C plus wind and it dries fast.
Hills are dusty! draws running water!
Roads are a mess, how to truck much of a load?

fjlip, the anhydrous trucks are really smashing up the roads here. There is a semi driver/farmer telling me his suppliers are delivering 86% plus loads. Both overweight and unsafe. The rebuttal is, that partial loads are inefficient, takes 2 trips. Wages, fuel, and wear on the trucks is proportionally more. Cuts into operating profits of suppliers. Same tune for the farmer. Stopping twice to take on fert wastes valuable time planting and wages. Seeder does not make any money sitting still!

Edmonton area we're half done, a little behind the curve. Been stuck three times, but probably seeding 98%. Very windy lately, top one inch getting dry.

Been seeding for 10 days now round here - strong, dry winds for the last 3 or 4 are really sucking moisture out of the ground. Unbelievable compared to a month ago with the winter snow still here and -18C mornings. Hope the winds head east and dry out the areas that need it.

Some wind and 20C really drying.
Wish the roads would firm up.
                  Harrowed yesterday, dried up nicely.
Still lots of BIG water that will be around for weeks.
Seeding wheat tomorrow on driest field.
Others are already seeding better drained fields.
Drew did not predict a dry month for us?
A chance of shower Wed, but a warm week.
                  Any crop up yet?
West side still says periods of rain Wed.

Everyone going hard in my area. Harrowing and cultivating helping a lot. I am 26 percent done. Must be ware of the spots the grain truck was stuck in last fall, the more times over them spots the more the mess. A few ruts everywhere the anhydrous cart sinking ocationally, not stuck yet, always seem to pull her through. Gotta be extra carefull not to load the seed fert truck any more than have to for the spot. And ya my road past my place really sucks haha, try best to avoid it like everyone else. As far as other roads they have been worse the other disaster year, good rm I guess.

I am loading up to the max, the stupid part is I make more ruts when half full than full, and travelling 6.5 mph instead of 5.5 helps a lot also. Still seems to do a good job in the harrowed ground.

Poplar leaves started showing today, plus a few weeds on fields that did not get sprayed or sprayed timely last fall. Worked fields showing some green weeds. Anyways my priority is to plant, my weeds are completely dusted don't think roundup would work anyway, possibly some of the other residuals would help. At the moment no time for spraying. Not on my farm anyways.

Some guys here are in panic mode. Consistant high winds and some guys have to spray before seeding Liberty b/c weeds are goin hard. Some are switching to r/r canola. Several guys were spraying all day yesterday 40 -60 k winds. I duno, glad its not me. Just have some wht left to seed. First seeded wht/canola up. Peas just emerging as well.

Spraying in high winds...nice. I do remember a few years back a farmer hired post emergence custom spraying and he was spraying by the highway on a reallly windy day. The farmer said, dont't you think its too windy? The sprayer guy said, Its got to land somwhere!!!
