    Seed boots

We have stealh right now and are needing to change or replace them. Aew the dutch a better opener? If so why? Would they be any smoother or have less drag? We changed from andersons 5 years ago expecting lighter pulling and a smoother field but I don't see it. Just wondering if dutch would be better or not

    Thanks

We use the Dutch Low Draft, 3.5 inch wide and 3/8 verticle seperation on ten inch spacing. You won't get the "subsoiling" effect and heavy pull with these that you will using the Flexicoil stealth. The trick with these is paying attention to seed and fertilizer placement/seperation. We try not to use excessive air, since it causes bounce/mixing/scatter at the opener. That would be our biggest concern. They also make ones that have greater verticle seperation(3/4, 1.5 inch) but not anything like the stealth. Speed can also be your enemy, the old style have the back of the wing deflected upwards(the new style is the same angle through out). I am assuming the new style wouldn't throw as much dirt and you may be able to travel slightly faster. Overall I do like them.

Went from the stealth to atom jet side band. Pull easy..less breakage and can find the seed in the ground easier as the seed is placed in middle of packer row. 10 inch spacing.

Thanks for the replies. Just to add, we send our pks with the seed and nh3 in between the seed rows. I kinda need the paired row as we have 12in spacing.

Watch doing that with stealths in dry year you will
loose half your seeds using paired row. Just a
heads up from 1994. Gas spreads and you get
seed burn. We switched to coulters now on bour
and seed master has the knife. But also used mid
row shank with atom jets get way more life out of
a set and easy to pull. Bour uses atom jet but
next one will use the bour ones.

                Never used dutch.

Use to use stealth and wish i would have never seen
                them compared to atom jet.

We were running stealth, switched to atom jets. Happy with the decision.

2 other things I don't like about the stealth. Just about Every time I get out of the tractor there is at least 1 or 2 plugged rows. Can be good going on dry ground, no turns, they will plug. Don't get it. Another thing is how the hoses attach to them. They don't get clamped down tight.
