I have the last of the wheat in the back
of my truck where its been sitting for a
few days now. GRRR.
Its only 400 bushels but by the time it
dries up to seed (the lowest/wettest
fields were saved for last, great idea
while it dried out) it will be June 1 or
later.
First frost is usually Sept 12ish so
that would give me 102 days, pretty
dicey for wheat. I already seed at a
pretty high plant density.
If I keep the seed over for next year
will the germ be down? Better off to
just deliver it as commercial grain
rather than screw around trying to store
400 bushels separately that may not have
germ for 2012 anyways?
Seed it, bump my seeding rate up past 35
plants/foot to try to push maturity and
harvest it on the green side? Or say
screw it and get some barley?
