    High clearance sprayer

I really need a high clearance sprayer. As a smaller farmer a new one is out of the question. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions on the reliability of the various models. What would you buy?

Do you have a FWA tractor? Get a pull type high clearance and pull it that way... You'll go through more mud than an SP can ever dream of.

With a FWA or 4WD, everyone sprayed through water last year. Would the PT high clearance with 1300 gallons not be too heavy?
Apache weighs less loaded than a 4720 empty. They have factory duals. Any owners on here?
Jay Dee says duals on Deere sprayers ruined suspension joints, last year.

Depends if you dual it up...

Mine's 800 gal, 80' booms Doesn't sink as much as the
              tractor pulling it (90hp belarus).

If you'd dual it up, should be fine... Was running 13.6s
on the sprayer and the front of the tractor and 16.9s
on the back of the tractor (singles).

those Apaches remind me of those imitation Honda
                motors

We have an Apache and love it. First, we don't have a big farm and a used good cond Apache was affordable.

Second, we like the idea of the JCB powershift transmission. We've used a JD and a Wilmar and on both the hydro didn't like mud and they used a LOT more fuel.

The Apache is easy to put duals on the rear. Spacers, rims, tires and installation is $5000.00 here and cheaper I think down south.

Our Apache is very durable, well built and its' controls are easy to manage and visibility is great.

We've only had Rogators. None have had the air bag suspension so they ride rough. Because of the Hydro drive they tend to be hard on fuel. Otherwise they are well built. Rumor has it the wheel motors are expensive to rebuild/replace. Good luck finding what you need.

Braveheart, what model/year sprayer do you have? What width and tank size?
On Ag talk it seems that some had front axle/spindles issues.
The pre 2004 had a noisy Deere cab, newer are much better.

Our Apache is a 2006 AS710. It has a 750 US tank. The cab is quiet enough to listen to the radio without it at rave volume. Haven't heard of or had any spindle or axle issues. But looking at the design I think frequent greasing of the u-joints should keep it going.

used CIH patriot 3310's are also one very reliable machine. 200hp 90 foot. These are starting to get cheap with the intro of the newer models a couple years back.

Bought a 2005 8650 Willar this year and it is an amazing sprayer, can not believe the ground i can cover. 340 Hp and 1200 gallons. Wide tires are a must for a larger sprayer. Not many of these sold but they are alot of sprayer and not too expensive.

Would have to agree that the 3310 are probaby a good value.Well balanced so they can go through alot.Bought 4420 this year but used 3310 last year on heavy clay and never got stuck once. You would have to be really negligent or asleep to get it stuck. Will go through alot more than 4wd tractor and pull type.
