hmm traceability just like some countries demand with livestock and other products. a page out of the american playbook i would say. when the cwb goes the americans will probably pull something like this.

The different thing with the Renewable Energy Directive is that it creates a massive market for bio-diesel in the EU rather than protecting their existing one.

The canola industry in Canada has been going through the traceability requirements in order to find a way to meet the requirements with as little or no pain to Canadian canola farmers.

What they are attempting to keep out are products from companies or countries that produce renewable crops that have little positive impact on the environment as well as meet certain societal demands around workers rights.

As Canada has existing law in place around employee/employer relationship like minimum wage and worker age, simple proof of the law meets the traceability requirement.

This law will give Canadian canola exporters a competitive advantage in accessing the EU market if they want to do what is required and the price is right.

Almost done seeding, frost in some areas, cutworms etc. Muddy to start out in spots, almost too dry at the end in spots. Normal spring challenges from what I have heard around the province.
