Explain to me if you are worried about seeding on June 10th for enough time to maturity how does June 20th make it better? Only making a bad situation worse.

Just once I wish they would recognize a year like this, recognize that not every farmer owns the high land and is done first every year, and say enough is enough - quit killing yourself trying to get it done - here is your insurance to cover your ass.

      But no.

VK reason they extend the crop insurance date is because most the time it pays to extend the date, farmers manage to get the crop in, in the fall even if its late, surprisingly. THAT is pathetic Silverback. Wanting a handout before you even get outta bed to at least try and put the the crop in. Christ people its only 2 weeks in the Spring. Yous ain't even got to hold the steering wheel anymore. The drill runs itself nowadays, even turns on the end rows for you. How much easier do you want things to get??? Noone wants to work anymore, what a shame........

Hey if you are done - great. We had 3 and a half inches of rain last week and still trying. Got stuck 3 times yesterday. Broke the tow rope.

          What is "Insurance" for?

Our area is struggling on the first of June. Glad you aren't.

bto- you can seed in July or even August if you wish, but why should the taxpayer and other insurers cover the likely loss. The deadline that is established is based on statistics and probabilities, once in a while it could work out but even in our area most of the time late planting is used to collect the insurance.

The only reason to extend the deadline is
because they figure that they will have to
pay out less. If seeding late seed a crop
that you have not seeded earlier otherwise
you will just average out. Nothing worse
than being at 80% of average. You now
have a premium bill on a money losing crop
              plus you lose coverage.
