Got to less than 10 to GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My god were getting closer to the finish line. Last year it was the 7Th of June. Started good in April then the wheels fell off in 2010. This year we just simply started the shits and it continued for the whole month. Rained end of today. Mist most of it, plugging lots of boots tonight.
Most neighbors were stuck at least 4 to five times a day. One neighbor really buried his rig. Took the Cat and Track Hoe to get it out.
Have Oats and Barley plus a few wheat to put in.
This year is different pattern than last year. Wet in South East and then it spreads out North Simply from Weyburn to Yorkton down to Brandon. that's the Wet Zone this year. Guys are Floating with tractor and rope in front of the truck then trying to harrow it in.
Water is nice but seeding into pure Mud is starting to get to allot of guys. IT's just not fun.

    SF3, sometimes you annoy me.

We're north of Dauphin, 10% in ground, it's all flooded
out - I don't think any of it will come up, it'll rot first. ..
Our seeding is done. I'm washing out the drills today
    and oiling them up.

Quit complaining. Good market prices for grain, and
    you'll have grain to sell.

Klause Im not complaining. I had rain rain rain last year and wet the year before. Just stating how far along we are. You stated how far your doing. IT is a way to show the area with real problems and its the SE.
Drews long term shows frost in Sept. Well most of stuff just seeding now wont make early september so probably a write off.
Dont put the drills away yet thats a quiter, its only June 3 Dauphin Ive been to before and you can grow a crop till the 12 or longer if the summer turns around.

Thumbs up to the guys who are getting some crop in. One thing SK3, the conditions your telling us I feel sorry for all the grief and headache of trying to get the crop in. However please do not complain on here all summer about the crop if it is poor. Seeding into mud turns dirt to cement. Good luck to all!!

          SF3,

Our water table is at surface level. Rivers and
streams running higher than ever in history. Lake
Dauphin has grown by 5 miles in almost all
          directions!!!

How do you think I can get a crop in on the 10th???
Or, and we've done this, canola on June 20th?
There's just no way to put anything in. Our dirt is
soup. We are unique in that in a good dry year our
water table is 8' under the ground... We don't dry
out even close to as quickly as the rest of the
prairies, and we're going to get another major
system moving in next week.... We had 3 10ths
          yesterday again.

"Seed into mud and its a dud" if this is your situation stop what you are doing. You are waisting money and wrecking you land. I was well educated on mudding in crops and none turned out, None!!! Those that tell you that you can sprinke on the seed and you will get an average crop are full of crap, you will end up with a mess. Crop insurance will not cover crops that arnt established!!!

Last year we broadcast Fert and Canola and it did ok But we went 7lbs seed and sulfur on pig shit. So had nuterients.
Klause I can open the well lid at the farm and touch the water with my hand so thats where our water table is.
As far as complaining about the crop hey if its a dud in western canada its a dud. Ill tell whats out their. I hate the BS that some come up with that were on way to 20 million acres and its a 60 bushel all around reality is that same as last year will be seeded for canola and with frosts and flooding their is no 60 for a BS prediction this year. A few will luck out great but when companies talk 20 million acres all it does is gives Joe farmer SWEET F?*%k ALL.
Been growing this shit since the early 70s Same game just on a bigger picture.

So when you have the tractor in front of the floater do they go back and forth or round and round and do they follow the gps map on the tractor? Could be a long day for the operators.

I just don't know if i should pull out the harrow and
valmar and roll the dice with this god awful expensive
canola seed, conflicting views and one hell of a gamble.

Everything seeded June 2010 in the mud was a DUD, (15 bu/ acre), weedy, compacted, drown out spots. Those are the dirtiest, hardest, lumpiest fields in 2011.
Sorry we tried that hard. You could be too.
Take your $70 and try next year,

Any aerial applicators around you with grain
tanks, that might be an idea worth investigating.

South of regina 60 miles. Last 30% is the flat land. Water coming up where sprayer tracks go. Think we will try seed Sunday and Monday but need a week of sun and looks like we will not get it.
