Jeff Nielsen (Dist. 2) Discusses the First CWB Board Meeting Since the Election

With change coming for the Canadian Wheat Board this weeks board meeting would of been very interesting. To only be a fly on the wall in Winnipeg this week. How the CWB reacts in the short and long term has everyone speculating and guessing.

I talked to Jeff Nielsen, CWB Board Member from District 2 about this weeks board meeting. Click Here to Listen to Our Discussion

I am sure the CWB has many very good customers . Who else will hold low priced high quality grain for them now. Good bye to single desk buying.

Oh I can see that wingnut NFU'er Stewie just about losing his last marble out of his head over this. Makes me chuckle when I think about it actually. HAHAHAHA

Shaney:
Would it be possable for you to get interviews with the CEO'S of the big grain Co's and some of the future markets?

I would like to hear how they are aligning themselves for these changes and what thier thoughts are on them. Ask them things like. Is there a higher price out there for Canadian wheat? And can they get it? Will they turn that higher price back to farmers or will they pass it on to shareholders? Are they going to have a market set up that is like the pulse market or how are they going to do it?

It is time to see what the future will bring so we can prepare ourselves.

Thank you.

wm,

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Being that the only 'asset' the CWB has... in managements 'small' minds...

IS THE MONOPOLY:

Who in their right mind would poke the tiger with a stick... until it has been declawed and retoothed with rubber teath?

Do you really understand these CWB people?

This isn't about the CWB anymore. It is about our future marketplace.

Yes, I am SERIOUS. We need to know what the market place will look like in one years time. Only the merchants can tell us that. If they have a plan let us have a glimpse of it.

The answer to your question:
Is: the man with a well thought out plan of how to declaw and pull the teeth out of the tiger in the first place.

Why would it be any different than canola?

The ICE in winnipeg has said they will set up a wheat and durum futures in place.

If Canada has 50 percent of the world durum market then the value should be easily determined in Winnipeg but more transparent than the current model.

Farmers will market their own grain instead of paying the CWB to do it. C to C... Just like the CWB have been preaching. Combine to Customer...

wm,

I truly wish that your approach was where the CWB wanted to take wheat and barley growers.

Sadly neither Oberg nor Ward W care one iota for growers nor the future of a commercial functional CWB.

They view the present CWB as the ace in the whole... nothing else will be allowed to survive... IF they have anything to say or do about the new System of marketing. Simple past knowledge of their actions... and present statements would clearly indicate their intent is to prevent a rational commercial CWB from ever being born.
