    Volunteer Canola

Anyone ever try letting volunteer canola grow to maturity for harvesting?

I have also wondered that, but when would you fertilize? Would liquid fert be better?

If its a hybrid variety outcrossing would be a concern. You could end up with a lot of plants and little seed.

You are also still supposed to pay for your tua. As for top dressing. Early like 4-6 leaf stage.

In some of our unseeded stubble fields we may leave to wick off some moisture before we spray anyway. i dunno, the volunteer canola will look better than the plane spread stuff that is too wet to harrow in any way.

12 bu/ac, 3 % green, to wet for fert but
got sprayed once. Dried the soil out some
and was able to disc after harvest, no way
without the crop growing some moisture
              out.
