    Canada is blessed, but God has nothing to do with it. You bother me with your add on. It's why politics, religion and booze should never be served together at a convention. Things start to wobble, and Tom, you do not have an orbiting body as earth does to keep you from going on and off tilt of your axis.
    You, and burnt remember the "miracle on the Hudson." It was coined by your equivalents. It wasn't a miracle. It was the training of a pilot over a lifetime that set that bird down on the water, but since you won't accept reality... carry on.

      You try too hard. The answer is simple - there is no difference between Harold and Paul. I wish it was a joke.

      Just like I never recognized what happened on the Hudson as a miracle. Do not put words in my mouth, checking.

      And you may want to check the origin of the word "blessed" before you use it again? Those who dislike the concept of a Higher Power should really be a bit more original in their word selection?

        Not everyone has their head fully stuck in the sand. This from today's Good Morning report from Syngenta. Begging for forgiveness for quoting without permission.

        Begin quote "Canada’s Ag Policies Stuck In The ‘70s
        With rare exceptions, discussions of food policy in Canada are limited to the joys of eating organic and how hard-pressed farmers need more help from the government, says a story in the Ottawa Citizen.
        What you never hear is this: As a result of rising population and wealth, global demand for food is soaring and the world faces a food crisis unlike anything seen since the 1970s if food production does not grow rapidly. Canada is among the very few nations with the capacity to dramatically boost production. But we're not. In fact, Canadian ag is stagnant. And politicians will not even discuss how we can change that.
        "There is a disconnect," says Larry Martin, an agricultural economist at the George Morris Centre, an independent think-tank devoted to agricultural policy. Read more here. End quote

          If guys like Tom and burnt only spoke for themselves then there would be little to worry about. Unfortunately as "leaders" they probabably have a little more power and influence than than a single person and thus their unfounded opinions and agendas must be kept exposed.

            Don't let me frighten you, begood! Most find me quite harmless! And rather than a leader I am just a backward farmer from the hated East!

            Concern yourself only with the truth. And that is something that you must discover for yourself, rather than blindly accepting at face value what some give you, my word included.

            The thing to remember is that no one can claim to hold the entire truth. We are all limited by our humanity. Those that do, and want to prove it to you though rationality alone, must be seen as somewhat suspect.

              Look again burnt. Words usually have more than one meaning. I like this one. Even Tom likes this one and it should have nothing to do with his faith. Blessed - "bringing joy; joyful: the blessed rain followed a drought. Don't like that one then try "happy; fortunate". Or even in your case as a synonym "annoying".

                checking and begood borrow alot more than just words from theism.You worry about over population-why?
                You don't get the irony of athiest's worried about over population.I'll summarize the cosequences of your world view for you.
                We are all just complex organisms here by chance with nothing but an instinct to survive.If thats all there is why do you care about some organisms that are less fortunate than you having to run out of resources?
                Wouldn't it make sense like other athiest's gone before you to simply legislate mass killing to solve the issue of over population.
                Of course I know you think that idea is horrible because you have borrowed your morality from theism.Take a look at what happens when an athiest is intellectually honest-his name was Adolph.That is why it is ironic that you and your friend seem so wrapped up with the grim future of over population.
                When you respond to this which I know you will can you please make this time worth while and attack the argument instead of just saying I don't know arithmetic.

                  Checking and Begood,

                  I am amused... and somewhat curious... why you folks are so concerned with our statements of faith and belief in God.

                  If there is no God... no afterlife... nothing but disintegration and oblivion...

                  Then:

                  What are you worried about???

                  We do 'good works'... love our neighbours as ourselves... help the poor... etc...

                  Then when I die:::

                  If there is nothingness:::

                  I will not be disappointed...

                  I will just be dead!

                  Gone.

                  No worries.

                  Caput and spent... like a black hole with no light.

                  What exactly is the problem here???

                  My family and I will try to feed the 9 billion people... case closed!

                    Begood;

                    Are you trying to flatter me by calling me a 'leader'???

                    I am only a flatlander grain farmer from the Alberta CWB 'designated area'... that hasn't paid off all his families World War 2 CWB debt yet!!!

                    They want our land to put wetland nature preserves... Billion volt DC powerlines... Oil and Gas pipelines... north/south transportation corridors...

                    We on our farm are just the bacteria that get in the way of sterile government prosperity... bleeding hearts that do not know when to stop!

                    Leaders?

                    More like troublemakers!!!... and fruitcake ones that believe in crazt ideas like: prayer... love... joy... faith...

                    You know... all those radical actions and spiritual wing nut cases; that will prevent the world order from controling humanity!!!

                      Tom.

                      Do you see any parallel universes between your faith position and CWB supporter faith?

                      You have some interesting theories worthy of reading, but the heavy doctrine dose has no gate sign that say, "here it comes, again".

                      Could you have Joe design a religious icon that you could use, maybe something with a halo, as a warning!!!?

                          CP,

                          NICE TRY.

                          As always... it is the distribution of the food that is the problem... to feed the hungry... NOT a lack of good healthy food in total amount.

                          War, Corruption... Misguided politics... you have 1000's of issues that cause this problem... but not the lack of food in total.

                            Talk about missing the point. Small and closed minds relying on blind faith. Leaves not much hope; from any support from that hopefully small minority.

                              Perhaps someone should check the beginning of this thread to see who brought up the religion part.

                                Begood,

                                "And absolutely no one; including a supposed higher power; is apart of any plan of any kind."

                                I respectfully and politely disagree.

                                If we decide to... we can feed 9 billion by 2050.

                                And the creative nature of humans... will be responsible... just as it is for the Capacity to feed 6 billion people... today.
