    Unseeded in Alberta

News reports have too wet to seed at 6
to 8 million acres in Sask and Man due
to the wet spring. Well there is also a
fair number of acres too wet to seed in
Alberta in the South Central and
southwest region as well. Problem is
all you hear about here is that AB is in
a drought as that is happening the the
    Capital, Peace and Northeast regions.
Will not be much crop this year.
Seeders just started rolling today in
this area again. More rain coming end
    of the week.

most of our seed canola is grown in southern alta., is it not. If so, are those acres getting in or will this be the reason for our next price increase

They can keep their expensive canola seed! Until they have a variety that can swim ,I'm not interested!

I think most/all of the canola seed got planted. Shortage shouldnt be an issue so far. A lot of the seed is grown in Chile as well.

As for unseeded in the south, there is some but not a lot. We got done but there is a few quarters around us unseeded, which is unheard of for this area

I drove from Edmonton to St.Paul on the weekend, didn't see a decent crop of canola anywhere except near Fort Sask. Word from some neighbors who attended a wedding in the Radway area is that they are 3 to 5 days from writing the crop off in that area due to drought and the frosts they have had. Ironic that it is way too wet in some areas and that others are droughting out.

            Busted;

            Canola is like a weed.

Make the trip July 10th... then we will know what is out there. June 15th is way to early to do drive by field checks.

I will admit it isn't ideal... but it is doing well for 90 days without a good soaking rain!!!
