    How Does This Work?

Yesterday on the radio I caught a bit of an interview with the CWB boss and he was going on about how we need a referendum on the CWB single desk? He actually had the exact wording of the question that should be on the referendum! The way he was talking this was the only legitimate way the Canadian government could end the CWB monopoly....and he further suggested the courts might have to be involved to over rule the government!
I have to wonder if Ritz will cave in or go ahead? Wouldn't it make more sense to just start issueing export permits to anyone who wants them?
Would that starve the CWB enough to forget lawsuits?
Sorry if this is a naive question. This farm hasn't sold any CWB grain since 1968....after getting screwed on some malt barley by the CWB!

Preparing to use our money from the pools to
fight against allowing other buyers to bid for our
grain, instead of working on a transition plan. I
can't think of a better example of the abusive
power we've been subject to all these years.

Minister Ritz and PM Harper will have to be smarter than a roadrunner... to tricking the ole coyote away from the hen house.

Been free eggs for far too long... and chickens missing farm to often!

tommie4, You sound like the evil Boris
        in Rocky and Bullwinkle, now.
Hee,hee, hee, the cwb's demise is on the
horizon. All of us blowhards and wise
men have overcome a great evil and now
will drag the rest of Comedia's farmers
down the sewer wit us. What an giant
        step forward/backward for Comedian
farmers. Or is it that you are an old
man, about to quit and just wants ta see
what is gonna happen to farming? From
the sounds of it, your day is past.....

Hey the screwing on malt barley is still happening !! And guess what its not the board ! One goes to the elevator signs a piece of paper that is not a CWC document the piece of paper disappears into the grain Co's files. Why? because if you do not sign document no discussion of possible malt. Actually from time to time farmers are told nice barley should make malt. Send in sample gets accepted but held....and held.....and held. The board does not do this ,it seems malster is keeping that lot on hold or something like that. Then comes spring of next year and golly gee they are full up . Grain company says now you must deliver grain to them ,open market you know.
Now deliver grain to elevator and employees now say gosh nice barley , by the way what variety is this?, it is sure nice barley.

It would seem from industry contacts that the elevators are doing a good job of making sure the shipments are all uniform as to grade etc. However since grain is marketed by specification the shipments are so uniform that they generally meet min specs .
Long story to wonder who gets the benefit of this shell game...could it be the farmer? The grain company ? The broker? or the feedlot in Alberta who lobbied for the removal of the Crow to get cheaper feed ?
