I would use the board if they had 3 pools a year. There would be no need for all these programs they come up with and would be cash effective for the farmer.Would have to downsize staff though. I imagine that is why they do not like the idea. They would rather kill the CWB than try and survive as a smaller player.

Notaredneck you seem to want to characterize all pro choice supporters as radical fanatics. You could not be more wrong. There are many people with strong opinions on both sides of the issue with some prepared to go to any length to protect their position. As well their are those of us who want to find a solution that allows those of us who seek freedom to market are own grain to do so and at the same time to allow those who want to voluntarily collectively market their grain to do so as well. However ,your position seems to believe they need to confiscate my grain to market their own, hence, COVET YOUR NEIGHBORS GRAIN. Take away a mans freedom and the right to his own personal property and how would you expect him to react? Let me ask you this, what is it your afraid of? Why is standing on your own two feet such a monumental task? Do you really believe that wheat and barley are so much different than other commodities that are freely and openly marketed now. Time to step into the 21st century and out of 1943.

Highman...I'm not afraid to stand on my on two feet. I'm just not convinced that we'll be so much better off without the board. I can't see the grain companies saying hey the boards gone lets pay more for wheat and barley. And why is it that in other industries single desk or a single marketing group makes sense and works?

"This in my mind is a typical antiboarder, rude ,full of hot air and not making any sense"!
Yah totally why would you want to pool your grain with that jerk. The CWB should refuse to do business with him and tell him to go market his grain somewhere else.

Nightmare nightmare! The board doesn't just market our grain. If you think that's all they do then that just proves my point even further.

Prove it to me. Put me into the conversation of a monopoly and a buyer, if at all possible the buyer will sourse elsewhere, right???

Do you realize that close to 50 percent of the marketing of our grain is done by accreditted exporters?

They are multinational grain companies doing the heavy lifting of the sales work for the cwb.

The cwb adds zero value. Please don't bring cigi into the equation. The feds are not getting rid of it. Although it may have to find some new funding.

So what else does the cwb do? They own railcars so they don't want rail rates to decrease. They are playing both sides of the fence on that one.

They purchased lakers that they had no way of paying for. Moronic.

So please tell, what else does the cwb do?

For example, the CWB was effective in appealing to NAFTA to remove an American wheat tariff that kept Canadian wheat out of the U.S. for two years. It has also brought level-of-service cases against the railways to fight for better rail service and rates.

The reason the US kept Canadian grain out of their country was that they intially proved Canada was selling grain into the US for less than cost of production. Good ole CWB another example of single desk buying.
