perhaps you can tell this Onario producer how bad things will be without the board mustard. Seems his opinion is that things are much better now with more options. And go figure... Wheat acres are up in Ontario according to him.

Boy you don't suppose they have a few socialist commies who think life is best if their neighbors never get paid for working harder than them do ya? I am sure we don't have any of those up here either.

Mustard,
Perhaps IF we had a marketing board system as Supply management has in Canada... with RESTRICTED imports... and a real market that is captive to them... it would be a thought. Even Dairy has to be market driven... as substitution of food products drops demand... so they either drop prices or lower production. Like dump milk down the drain.
The only control the CWB has... IS over us growers. NOT CONSUMERS of flour or wheat. Mills and Bakeries can and do import wheat to subsitute for our produce... if the CWB price is not right. The threat of arbitrage is all that is needed... and the CWB by formula makes sure domestic consumers get a 'competitive purchase price. NOT a PREMIUM price.
You need to do your homework Mustard... the CWB is NOT at all like SM5.

hey mustard had a read.
i honestly believe if a vote was taken to return to the single it would be 20% in favour 75% against and 5% unsure
maybe one thing it has higher highs and lower lows price wise in a deregulated market.
is that good or bad hmmm its all perception i guess
maybe you guys should start of slow you either sign up with cwb or you dont, a dual market option and test the water for a few years rather than run with eyes wide shut.

Mallee,
No testing needed. Canola has proven over and over that multi-marketers and competition returns are best. We have locked in 14/bu canola for fall... top prices globally offered. Off the Combine. CWB has muffed up our market big time... for everything! Bad basis... buying ships my family and I will NEVER use.
These people at the CWB are living in a fictional world(using our money)... someone wake me up... I want out of the nightmare!
I know... I am TalkingEskimo AGAIN!

Yeah that is probably the way it is musty. Only the intelligent ones want to restrict others freedoms.
If there aren't that many posting in favor of the board it is more likely that they are out enjoying their lives or concentrating on actual crop production. It would sure suck right now to know that the world price for your grain might be close to what I could get at the farm gate. It is much better to see $18 Durum available to people across some imaginary line and know that ours still growing in the field might never be more than $12? Maybe?

You are going to be ok with $6 per Bushel less for your Durum this year? That's almost $30,000 dollars on a 30 bushel crop musty.
I wonder if I asked your family if they would like an extra 30k from that quarter what they would say?
BTW, our "Alberta Kool Aid" is long gone. We have a bunch of liberal/dippers in conservative clothing and they lost their way a long time ago. If they would have ever kept their word, you sask/man guys would have had this cwb albatross all to yourself many years ago.

How is that poor performance even possible?
My durum isn't even headed out yet and my state
monopoly buyer is already telling me that the
best I can hope for is $6 under the market price!!
How many sweetheart deals have we already
been obligated to provide durum this cheap for
anyway?
This horrific abuse should have been ended
immediately, and the auditor general needs to be
given the authority to find the missing money.
