    How much will this cost?

Winnipeg - The CWB today announced that MNP, a chartered accounting and business advisory firm, has been contracted to administer a Prairie-wide plebiscite on the future of the organization.

"Through this Prairie-wide plebiscite, farmers will be asked if they want to sell all wheat and all barley through the CWB's single desk, or through an open market," said CWB board chair Allen Oberg.

Oberg noted that MNP LLP is the company that oversees CWB director elections, and has the experience and resources required to ensure proper administration of the process. "I encourage all farmers to vote and make their voices heard on the future of the CWB," Oberg said.

MNP has created a Web site (www.cwbvote.ca) and phone line (1-877-780-VOTE) to provide detailed information about the plebiscite to farmers.

"Ballots will be mailed to more than 68,000 wheat and barley farmers next week," said plebiscite coordinator Ian Craven of MNP. "There are two plebiscite questions, one on barley and one on wheat."

Farmers who have grown wheat in the past five crop years are eligible to vote on the future of the single desk for wheat while farmers who have grown barley in the past five crop years are eligible to vote on the future of the single desk for barley. Those who have grown both in the past five crop years are eligible to vote on the future of each crop.

Producers with an active permit book in either the 2009-10 or 2010-11 crop years and who have delivered wheat or barley in the past five crop years (2006-07 to 2010-11) will automatically receive a ballot in the mail later this month.

Other producers who have grown wheat or barley in the past five years can apply for a ballot now. (See backgrounder for more information.) To apply, download an application to vote from www.cwbvote.ca, or call 1-877-780-VOTE (8683).

MNP and the cwb have the experience and resources to put dead people on the voter's list.

Real democratic. At the last federal election, I could not vote on behalf of my dad's estate. But there was a ballot for him on the cwb director's election. Real democratic, Oberg.

And what about people that haven't grown their first wheat, durum or barley crop yet. Where is their vote in all of this?

Look, its not right to vote on individual's property rights.Period.

Bucket , you're absolutely right. Also, does someone who is going to quit farming this year, next year or anytime in the near future have the right to determine grain marketing in the next ten years? Or, should there be a vote every year?

Of course not. Voting on this is ridiculous. No one else should have the right to dictate to me how, when or where to market our grain.

Gentlemen dont sweat this one. This is simply an exercise in futility by a group of 8 fanatical socialists that are so far behind the times that they truly believe that they are in the lead. Their cushy salaries and abilities to confiscate the personal properties of their neighbors is about to come to and end and it will be ASTA LA VISTA BABY to the single desk forever. The draconian dragon has been slayed. AMEN.

So what is a real producer to do?

Throw it in the trash where it belongs and forget it?

Submit it knowing that 2 socialists in Saskatchewan will cancel my opinion out and they will dismiss my opinion anyway?

It's your grain. Not the CWB's.

What if we all sent the ballot to the Minister thanking him for his commitment and urging him to proceed with vigor?

                  That's not a bad idea.

It would sure be nice to hear someone, anyone, who was elected as an open market director, say anything in the way of leadership on this farce.

Now is the time to stand up and do the bloody job we sent you down there to do!

Perhaps they have been coerced by the dark side per diems also?

                    Braveheart,

                    Good Idea!

                    We could all...

                    send our CWB Ballot...

                    postage free...

                    to our MP...

to pass along to the PM...

with a detailed objecters list of all those we can find who are truly affected by the CWB 'single desk' but are not allowed to vote by Chairman Oberg!

Like If each got at least 20 voters from the federal election May 2...

and attached these to each ballot...

of who are opposed and disenfranchised by the Oberg fiasco vote...

We could make great use of this ballot the CWB sends us!

We could even put out radio ads... telling folks to write in to MNP... to 'spawn' another objection list... from MNP!

Here is who should qualify to sign up objecting to Obergs illegal vote:

                    INTERPRETATION

                    Definitions

                    2. (1) In this Act,

                    “producer”

                    « producteur »

“producer” includes, as well as an actual producer, any person entitled, as landlord, vendor or mortgagee, to the grain grown by an actual producer or to any share therein;"

I would interpret 'any share therein' means that this entitles anyone we think is short $$$...

                    because of the 'single desk'...

that we can get to sign our petition against the vote...

                    and the 'single desk'...

that is to be attached to our ballot... sent out by MNP!
