The CONs have used Turdeau's NEP as ammunition against the Liberals for years. Now THEY are advocating for the "new" National Energy Program (or policy).

What goes around comes around in this country.

Just wait...in ten or twenty years they'll be advocating a National Trading Entity to handle the export of grain from Canada.

Creating a stratagy to deal with increasing energy demmands is a far cry from the west subsidising the east as it did in the Trudeau version. Though I honestly haven't seen many of the details of new program it sounds more like a forward thinking stratagy to diversify our energy sources and lay down infrastructure to ensure we don't have another oil (read energy) crisiss that led to the NEP in the first place.

Actually it is a SCHEME to double our exports of tarsand oil (bitumen) so that foreign oil companies can enrich themselves at the expense of Albertans as we only get pennies per dollar of exports. If you believe that our Energy Minister is working on behalf of the citizens of Alberta, you are full of shite. I don't trust the man at all...he is fully in league with Big Oil and Big Money.

Exporting RAW resources for little return is just plain stupid.

What does the USA do or for that matter what will a future Chinese purchase of our oil do for THEIR economy?

Well, they create manufacturing JOBS...where they produce goods to sell back to us and where they make huge PROFITS. Why aren't some of those jobs staying in Canada?

Answer: Because we are exporting our energy (cheap oil) and someone else is benefiting ten-fold, if not more.

Its a vicious circle and we are not going to win with the present people in charge of our resources.
