    CWB Plebiscite

If the board only gets positive results will it lend credibility to their argument in the press and uninformed public?

Got mine but I can only vote for Barley as I have not sold wheat to the CWB in years.

    rodb,

Our farm only got one for wheat... because we have not sold barley to the CWB for years.

How is this a legitimate democratic process?

Why would we participate in a non-democratic process...?

That does not respect the legitimate property rights...?

CWB 'designated area' commercial grain growers... who must use the system in the years to come are not allowed to vote. It is NOT one person one vote... it is a totally flawed survey and a waste of money!!!

If some tele marketer called on the phone... and asked me to paricipate... in a survey like this... I would not participate... and tell them the reason why was their survey was flawed.

It is flawed as a third of my crop is wheat and I don't get a voice as mine has gone to the domestic feed industry because I knew what I got when I delivered it not 18 months down the road on a lick and promise.

My wife got a ballot for wheat and she has only sold wheat to the CWB once. I wonder how many estates and non resident landlords recieved ballots.

Got a phone call from my mother this
weekend. She got a ballot in the mail and
wanted to know how I wanted her to
vote.lol She has not had a permit book
for at least 10 yrs and maybe longer as
neither of us could remember her last
        one.Talk about a flawed vote.If she got
one you can bet alot of estates got a
ballot also.So much for the credibility
        of this plebiscite...

Don't know wether or not to dignify this
joke plebiscite by voting. Hate the fact
that more of our pool money is wasted on
MNP. What's up with the wheat/barley
          thing?

Mailing ours directly to the Minister of Agriculture.
He's the one who has the power to make
            changes.

Our single ballot is being mailed to my MP, with
thanks for ignoring the results of this waste of our
money out of the pools. On the other side with
about the same financial interest, the dozen or so
ballots mailed to retirees and estates would have
obliterated my family's single vote anyway.

They should have sent out a survey of how much
we would contract with them in the first year of
an open market. At least that would have better
indicated the support they have without the
legislative iron hand they currently wield.

I got 4 ballots the other day and my mother got
one not sure if I should send in or to my MP .
Anyone who gives this vote credibility is a joke
and I farm 2000 ac there's guys in my area who
farm 15000 with ten landlords each with an
individual permit book . I wonder how many votes
                they will get .

HMMMM, I am becoming surprised MNP actually accepts to do a survey like this. I guess customer is always right, especially when they pay the bills. I farm 4500 acres with 3 extra landlords. I have not recieved a ballot yet, nor will landlords. Also never sold through CWB for 4 years. Does this mean I don't get to vote?

I can think of 40,000 reasons not to vote. That would be a conservative number of people eligible to vote who are not actual farmers. If you consider the number of farmers who are not eligible because they don't sell to the board, raise livestock etc it only highlights the fact that this vote has little to do with what farmers want. Farmers numbers are shrinking but that's not reflected by the board. Democracy at it's finest.
