I was wondering if it might have anything to do with the fact that the AB Barley Commission has this link on its website...probably not.

http://albertabarley.com/documents/ABLandStewardshipAct.pdf

The AB government has been pumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into this Commission over the years.

Wilagro,

The Commission (ABC) has been pumping millions of dollars into our grain research and develpment projects both provincial and federal. ABC is funded by a refundable checkoff that allows freedom of choice if you object to the projects that we fund.

Dr. Jim Helm is a very good example of the NIR development for barley and feed grains... Barley varieties growers grow and need on Alberta grain farms... and future research to better take care of our environment through effective plant breeding.

Perhaps it didn't reflect what you meant... but ABC has been funding the Alberta Government on our Barley R&D!

Hi Guys,

I hate to be involved in this debate but I had some complaints about some offensive personal attacks.

I removed the posts that were nasty.

Please don't say things that you would not say face to face or in front of your mother or daughter.

The All Mighty Alberta Barley
Commission, is the best thing that ever
happened to Alberta. This phoney
organization has taken money from
producers, via checkoffs, a dubious
scheme to say the least. The money
collected, has promoted the Albertie
agenda (ie, trash the cwb, raise feed
barley fer Albertie cowguy/gals, promote
Albertie PC values, privatize, and give
away everthing good for farmers, promote
pigeons, emus & ostriches, even grass
carp as the next best greatest thing in
the farming pipeline) Yup all and all a
real value added Albertie born and
raised phoney baloney organization!!!!

By the way thanks fer the censorship,
another Albertie good idea!!!!!!!!

ABC checkoff is fully refundable on request . Unlike the ABP commission one that wasn't but now kinda halfway is.

Since the ABC from the start worked against the CWB, I requested and received every bit of the COMPULSORY checkoff money that was deducted. If they had stuck to promotion and research, I would have supported them all the way.

I might highlight the ABC has partnered with the CWB on a good many projects over the past few years. Look for the CWB in research project partner list.

ABC projects

I suspect that what ever policy position the ABC elected board of directors might have would be driven by chart 21 of the 2011 CWB Annual Survey.

<a href=" http://www.cwb.ca/public/en/farmers/surveys/producer/pdf/survey_062911.pdf">chart 21</a>

Its not compulsury if you can get your money back. Ironic given your stand on the CWB
