there is a few very possible but most will be in the 40 range. In general our area will be down 10 bus/ac from last year.

Never would assume that either. Just sayin, there are a few feilds that have that potential, not a whole region. I seen several fields last year that weighed out over 60, so it is more than possible, with the right variety, weather, weed control and agronomics.

Its a headline, But some on here and some in the grain industry try to convince us that their is a canola crop of epic size coming. What I am trying to find out is where is this epic crop and what area. I have driven through a lot of west this summer and see a average crop, lot more acreage in west and south than ever yet lots of flooded out ground in other areas with no yield potential at all. Simply a 160 acre quarter in our area with 30% flooded will never ever give you 60 in a year like were in. Higher areas will do good but flooded will suck big time. Got to 60 once since 1974. It was more luck and timing and agronomics than brains, crop consultant spray spray etc. Mother nature still rules the roost in Canada. If your still blooming sorry your probably not going to make it. Also talked to the Bayer rep and SE doesn't have very many stellar crops this year. Last year lots lots lots. Especially where it was just the right amount of rain.
Heat and Canola don't mix. Five days of heat and wind can definitely effect yield. Their will probably be a average of close to 30 on most farms.
But its still early. AN early frost and drop that by 5 or more.
Also one note have been told since the early years of canola that Big yields were coming over and over and over. Seed companies and dealer did well. One interesting thing now we grow it on stubble so yes liberty and roundup for weed control helped. But gee going from hardly any fert to 100lbs of anhydrous and 120 lbs of blend maybe had more to do with yield increase than any thing else.
Again its a headline but wondering where the big ones are.

Sure a lot of nice Canola crops in Alberta. I would say that acreage is also up 25%.
It is going to balance out some of the poorer areas.
Not many 60 bushel crops, but a lot Alberta harvests 35-40 bushel crops on average and there are a lot of 45-55 bushel crops around here, so 20% more yield and 25% more acres.
From my window and travels, I think we could achieve the canola yields that are talked about.

Bun, Tomato, Onion is under stress. Just like his parched Manitoba fields. He needs a drink; they need a drink, unlike some defined swamp land that will be perfect for winter wheat seeding in SE Sk.
The bear won't eat the hold the double lettuce, "ll". The Hutterites will take him out, but not to a burger joint!

On highway 5, Wadena to Saskatoon today. Winter wheat swathed at Clair.
Great looking canola being swathed at Petersen.(50 possible)
Same field was thick and lush in June.
Oats and barley turning in a few fields.
Weeds showing up everywhere.
Millions of white butterflies in canola fields west of Humboldt all the way to Saskatoon.

I said crop needs a drink if we's gonna break 70 bushel to thee Acre, Canola will still run 55ish, WW did 127.73 Bushel. Drinking every night, cause we Drink to my Accomplishments. BTO is on The Rise, F*** Them Other Guys. I guess it Really is just Me, Myself, & All My Millions. Yelling out Money over Everything!!!!!!!!!!

crops in central alberta may still go
60. but not many and the green count
will be crazy. way to wet and way to
late. if we get frost before sept 15 we
are screwed. even then it would be
sketchy.
