Technically the BHP mine site is all clay and gravel. They own also plenty of farm land in the area.

On highway 5, Wadena to Saskatoon today. Winter wheat swathed at Clair.
Great looking canola being swathed at Petersen.(50 possible)
Same field was thick and lush in June.
Oats and barley turning in a few fields.
      Weeds showing up everywhere.
Millions of white butterflies in canola fields west of Humboldt all the way to Saskatoon.

crops in central alberta may still go
          60. but not many and the green count
will be crazy. way to wet and way to
late. if we get frost before sept 15 we
are screwed. even then it would be
          sketchy.

Then some swath way to early. Example farmer at Webb out side of Swift not bad stand but most of field grass green with sun burn swath. Ah just a little patience and would have gave him more.
