Hey Tom4CWB, i know you would appreciate this but it is:

    et al.

    not et al,

et al. is the short form for all the forms of the feminine aliae, masculine alii, or gender neutral alia hence the period. It can also stand for alibi which means other occurences.

You know who has me edit some research docs once in a while and lets nothing slip.

Its gotta be tough for "dynamo for change" Oberg, forever in history known as the chair who was in charge during the demise of the CWB. But he does have the opportunity to do great things too. Will be interesting to see if he is up for the challenge or just fades into the history books.

      WD9 et al.,

I see I forgot the period... I think this is your point... get it???

Past history is usually a good indicator of future performance... 9 times out of 10.

I truly hope Chairman Oberg et al. gets the urge to change VERY soon.

I will be searching for these new opportunities on Aug 16 in Camrose!

Hope many will do the same... and build a much better future for all of us!

Tom, most of me wants Oberg to continue his ways. Let the CWB sink.

We had respect for those who wanted to use a non profit marketer by promoting the dual market or voluntary wheat board idea. It could have worked. But the socialists want us all to march to the beat of their drum. So, forget it. Let it go. Wind it down. Give them the same severence as the 500 who lost their jobs in 1943 got.

Just imagine a world where the left wing media wouldn't be able to bemoan the CWB at every turn. Where neo political dribble that passes for CWB news releases isn't a weekly event.

Please Oberg, play your flute. Lead the spellbound rats over the cliff.

          Braveheart,

          I understand your point,

However I truly do think there is a sweet spot... like CHS Inc. in the US and Federated Coop in Canada... provide/fill... for a western CDN grain marketer managed with wisdom.

Timing is everything. Minister Ritz can help pull this together. Oberg is of no help... so far.

Yes, well, to sit on your hands while the CWB bought ships was not in the interest of farmers.

There can be a stark difference between the interest of the corporation vs the interest of farmers.

Farmers essentially have had NO say how their money is spent except for one elected voice, who, it appears, has a keen interest in his pay, pension and perks. In other words, the status quo.

The old herd mentality gone amiss is so irresistible isn't it, in the name of solidarity, puke, puke: the property-smashing mob in Vancouver differs little from the economic-smashing mob at the CWB.

Somebody has to pay the bills, don't they.

Both directormob and youthmob are indefensible.

Ritz will be remembered for only one thing, the americanization of grain marketing in Canada. He has no interest in the survival of any type of marketing agency run by farmers. He has proven it by never once talking to the CWB to understand what they do.

                Agstar,

Ritz has never talked to them to see what they do? Come on lets try and be a little truthful... There are people willing to compromise but there are some that are not willing to bend at all. Have to have single desk or can’t survive? That’s like Home Depot saying the only way it can survive is it controls the lumber trade in Canada. It just sounds so utterly ridicules and is a pathetic argument.

Right or wrong if the Board of Directors believe they can turn this around they are sadly mistaken. The Barley fiasco of a couple years ago was extremely embarrassing to Harper. That will not happen again; they campaigned on doing away with the single desk, not the CWB. They will not change their mind. If Oberg and the Board of Directors truly care about the lively hood of the people that work for the CWB they had better start thinking about how they fit in an open Market after Aug 1 2012 or they will have no one to blame but themselves for the downfall.

The Conservatives have absolutly nothing to gain and everything to loose if they change their mind. The people that are against them didnt vote for them anyway. And not one Conservative that is not a farmer would think a socialist entity controlling farmers sales of grain would be a good idea.

AGSTAR. Answer this question please with out any other crap verbal garb just answer the question. Why should I as a Wheat and Barley Producer with grain trading experience as much or more as the people at the sales desk at the CWB should I not be able to choose Where and When I sell my Wheat and Barley the same way as I sell my Canola, Lentils, Peas, Flax and Canaryseed?

                  Agstar, read what you say:

"He has no interest in the survival of any type of marketing agency run by farmers."

The CWB is not run by farmers.

It's a government run institution. If it was run by farmers and owned by farmers, the government wouldn't be able to shut it down.

You are likely right Tom. But what about the railroads and the grain companies? I don't think they are under a gag order.

I would like to hear, in a "public meeting" such as the CWB did, what they have been telling the Gov't how they will make it better under an open system. Farmers should be the ones hearing first hand how it will improve, Not the gov't. It is our lively hood not thiers.

I went to the CWB meeting and would also go to RR and every grain co's meeting. Public info from BOD from both sides is good. So far we have a one sided debate and a bunch of propaganda.

                          Agstar77,

"Ritz will be remembered for only one thing, the americanization of grain marketing in Canada."

                          You are SIMPLY wrong.

Minister Goodale tried to 'Save' the Mb. Sk. Ab. Pools in the 1990's.

These Liberals FAILED to implement the Western Grain Marketing Panel Report. Minister Ritz had NOTHING to do with the end of SWP... UGG... Agricore United...

A transition that allowed Federated Cooperatives... or another global Cooperative needed to be the objective of Minister Goodales 1998 CWB reforms.

The Permit Books system that the CWB and Goodale kept... was simply self serving and failed to provide the commercial attributes needed to install leaders with a lasting and accountable future.

Minister Ritz gave very GOOD advice when he told the CWB NOT to buy the two Ships.

Chairman Oberg has been responsible for 'the americanization of grain marketing in Canada" if that is at all what has happened. AS have you Agstar77.

It is always handy to blame someone else for your failures.

The song that Oberg endorses cussing those out that don't agree with the 'single buying desk'... shows how shallow CWB managers are.

Chairman Oberg and the other socialist CWB leaders have had their way... crashing the CWB... a Corporation that is now: offensive, economically unaccountable, NOT commercial nor a responsible sustainable business model.

All CWB managers should hang their heads in shame... Agstar77... instead of blaming Minister Ritz.
