Nice week except for two inches of rain last
weekend. Hail to south and west. Water starting
to run in some small creeks again. Just when you
think it's safe to get down some roads mother
nature straitens you out.
Ok some are harvesting so we will switch to
yields etc.
Peas all desiccated 3 fields nice one poor and
one please send a hail storm. One note the
highest assessed land is the one that I want hail
on, flooded so bad last year, got it seeded this
year then the 5 inch monsoon on farm progress
show week, enough said. Oh yea pea bids are
nose diving cargil told me it because moose jaw
has excellent yields, I said why doesn't gee ail
his boss back a news report our area has shitty
pea yields! Always the positive news story in
grain markets. Will be harvesting peas today or
Saturday.
Hrs desiccated early wheat, nice big heads will
see in 10 to 14 days yield, others starting to
desiccate hrs.
Durum week away, looks like minor fusariumin
odd. Head spraying was worth it.
Barley, week ahead, will be my best yielded ever
if it makes it, some early barley near town will be
harvested today.
Oats 10 days away, nice but nothing special.
Canola, most early stuff is getting swath. Only
saw one real real thick field so far. Heat blast in
July did damage crop, combine with the areas
that were wet at seeding and it's a average at
best. Some will be surprised others will be really
surprised. Later seeding more damaged. But the
really late seeded is awesome like normal, tall
thick stocks lots of pods and large pods if it
doesn't freeze for two to three weeks might make
it.
Flax all fields just a mess, dirty and poor.
Lentils virtually none in area.
Soy nice stand nice catch looks awesome
starting to put lots of pods needs three weeks, if
it makes it peas will be non existent in future
years.
Basically next weeks hot hot temps will have our
area in full harvest mode, " Let The Games
Begin ".
